Hey guys, I wanted to know whether there is anything in my PC that I should think about upgrading in the near future. My specs are:
CPU: i5-3470
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
GPU: Gigabyte R9-280 3GB
PSU: Antec Neo Eco 620w
MOBO: Gigabyte H61-DS2

I currently have a budget of 10k + whatever I am able to get in exchange of the product to be replaced.

None your PC is good to go for altease next 2 years, if you really need to upgrade then get a SSD or better mobo to get usb3/HDMI etc,

good to hear. I might think of upgrading the PSU as I bought it used and maybe my casing as well (its a cheap Legend casing)

There is one more thing. I often find myself requiring usb 3. does it seem a viable option to upgrade mobo for just that. I agree with the need for an SSD

Agree with the others. Rest of the PC is pretty good. +1 for getting an SSD. And yes, IMO getting a USB 3.0 capable motherboard IS a worthwhile investment if you use 3.0 capable USB devices often (the newer motherboard will also have SATA 3 ports which will allow you to make the most of your SSD). Going from 20-30 MBps read speeds to 70+ MBps (with even the lower end USB 3.0 thumb drives) is pretty sweet ^_^

To me usb3 is essential as I do alot of data transfer, and as far as SSD goes my dual core laptop with ssd boot faster then macbook pro with i5

Components, Video Cards & Video Devices, Desktop Graphics Cards, 4GB, Radeon R9 290, $200 - $300, r9 290 - Newegg.com

I'm thinking of getting either the Sapphire or VisionTek one from abroad. What do u guys think, which is better and can my PSU handle it. @Voodoo @nafu @smaaz @mac007

BTW I'm thinking of doing this since I like the eye candy at ultra on which I feel fps drops in intensive areas in games on the 280 (yes I'm getting spoiled by ze eye candy)
the recommended PSU for 290 is 750W.....the reference fan version AMD cards are not suitable for Pakistan as we have hot climate...

if getting new then better to get 390 8 GB version instead of 290 ..
Sapphire is better .....
You need at least 650w PSU 80+ bronze/silver/gold of a reputable brand/model with enough wattage at 12 volt rail ...

Thanks guys but Blasty and chicken convinced me that it is better to wait for locally available cards that getting then from abroad. I would gladly have gotten 390 but $230 was my budget voodoo. So for now I'll mark this thread as solved
