Salam to all PG members today I bring you my persinal favourite the highly sought after the pinnacle of engineering the Woo Audio WA8 DAC/AMP.
I would like to use this opportunity to show my other gear as well though each of them deserve a separate threat its just too time consuming and there's a lot to share.
Take your sweet time to read this its about 9000 words long and i did for giving information and fun while i was commuting throughout Beijing. If takes you an hour to read then It might have taken 4 hours to write and no i am not "vaila" just doing it for the love of music and PG
Woo Audio WA8
This is a portable dac/amp which costs 1800$ for space grey color and 1900$ before tax for gold I wanted to buy the gold but it doesn't match with anything i currently own and my future plans plus it was out of stock where I bought though the price was the same in China the color doesn't affect here.
The implementation of its saber pro DAC is one of the best its like tailor made to match the tube amp they took two years developing it and it definitely shows. The highs are detailed not crazy detailed like sold state saber amps but still good enough plus there's the advantage of the tube sound on top which takes the edge off and tame the highs a bit so much so they dont sound fatiguing at all. Its the only amp that made me want to listen to my Hifiman He400i which i bought back in 2015 and only used for less than 10 hours.
Its one of the only few tube amps that are powerful yet hiss free lending an awesome deep dark background even with my most sensitive iems such as shure se846 there's not a hint of background noise. It pairs really well with full sized cans that require tons of power such as the planar magnetics as well as the most sensitive iems there were reviewers who tried this with ALO Andromeda which is the standard for hiss/background noise check and found it to be dead silent.
Price:260K
It punches way above its weight and compete with full desktop solutions that weigh like 30Kg you can find out more about it on the internet there are many good reviews both on YouTube and head-fi.org
I basso DX150
Ibasso are known for their premium products at affordable price range their flagship is DX200 but i went with the 150 instead which I find to be a bit more to my liking plus the design is more mature and packs more or less the same features as the more expensive part. I have paired it with AMP8 which is hands down the best of the bunch with 4.4 balanced and stock AMP6 comes with both 2.5mm balanced and 3.5 single ended so i can pretty much use it with all my iems and headphones. I got this over my old Opus#1 because it runs android so i can use Tidal for streaming and offline and the amp8.
When on the go or even at home its a good bang for the buck product you wouldn't miss much if it was your only Hifi music player in the chain IMO plus it pairs well with my ALO cascade but one thing to note is that on stock alo cable with lyra ii it sounds a bit bright and fatiguing on AMP8 but sounds more to my liking if I use stock shure 846 cable and amp6.

Price: around 91K (i got a nicer deal with the amp so saved a few bucks there otherwise its 100k plus with the extra AMP8)
MASSDROP Centrance DAC
Got this back in the day for using with my Macbook pro while i am travelling to get a better sound quality than the built-in dac and amp it pairs well with my gear and really powerful for its size. Its a good beginners DAC/AMP as well you can just start with this and use it for a year or two and then upgrade to something better. Very nice portable piece of kit.
[IMG]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190320/a70272a4e4daf369c7599f3801dfbfa7.jpg
Price: 150$ (100$ for massdrop 20$ shipping to UK and 30$ tax lolzz that's insane the shipping and taxes made me never to buy from Massdrop myself it doesn't suit me its amazing if you're in USA though)
ALO Cascade
These are one of the best closed back headphones if you're into rap, hip-hop, rnb or anything bass heavy and they pack enough punch to satisfy even the most demanding bass heads among us I love bass to me music is empty without it that's why i have even paired my LS50 Wireless with a subwoofer and I cant imagine listen to them without it. The bass needs to be of great quality in order to enjoy it not just boom boom that we are mostly used to. Cascade do bass very well it doesn't just hit you it slaps you it slaps you hard. The treble is clean you get the details without it being sharp or harsh the mids are bit less forward and bass rules throughout but doesn't bleed into the mix there's one song though Rihana's needed me where it does bleed a tiny bit but that's it.
They pair really well with a cold or neutral source like the DX150 with AMP8 just splendid pairing with lots of detail, excellent mids and tight controlled bass but they are bit too much bass heavy on WA8 Eclipse so I use them with filter 4 and in 2 tubes mode.
I was obsessed with VEGA after the LYRA II experience but someone recommended me this over VEGA to satisfy my bass cravings and yeah they have done it all and in abundance to be fair I dont think about getting VEGA any more and its such an achievement on its own considering how much I wanted them
Price:112K(got a discount on sale otherwise its 122K)
ALO Comet
This is one of their cheapest earphones available they do sound good for the money but tbh i bought them only because i wanted to try the fit and some good sound for cheap on the go my main goal was to get ALO atlas down the line but they are not much comfortable for me and only used them for maybe 10 hours or so. They come with a nice case and set of eartips though.
Price:22K
Whizzer
This is a Chi-fi iem and my go to iems when i want a better sound without having to take care of them like in a crowded bus or subway, rainy days etcetera. It come with a good set of accessories but the stock cable was useless so i am using earmax cable with it.
The sound is good enough for it to justify its price or even more the build quality is top notch pretty comparable to the RA10 OR RA20i.
Price: 7500 (7500 for the iems and 2000 for the cable)
ALO lyra ii
I love these iems but when i got these i hated them coming from 846 they were too sharp and fatiguing the bass wasn't there but then i got used to them i changed the foam tips, shure stock cable and paired with warmer sounding sources and they started sounding fantastic I love them with WA8, DX150 AMP6 and my cellphone lolz. One of the best ALO earphones out there for my taste but in stock form i wouldn't buy them at all. That's where VEGA comes in.
Price: 100k
Logitech G933
These are hands down the best PS4/PC headphones i have used they work seamlessly with the PS4 PRO and PC with great virtual surround sound packs quite a punch in the bass so you get a nice efreesive sound. They are strictly for PS4PC gaming, movies and TV. They aregreat for night time viewing without disturbing the neighbors and Bluetooth connection makes it hastle free experience. I do notice a slight hiss when there's nothing playing due to wireless connection other than that its perfect.
Price: 18000
Xiaomi mi sports
Well they are just okay i mean borderline acceptable for what they offer they are cheap with a mediocre battery life and frequent connection drops but it serves its purpose. I use it for voice calls and i have to keep the mic close my chin in order for the person on the other end understand what i am saying.
Price: 3K
Jabra elite 35
I got these before the Mi sports and they have nice sound quality a bit mor refined than your normal beats and all the package is quite neat i love the carrying case which doubles as a charger as well so the earbuds last for 5 hours on a single charge plus they automatically charge when you put them back in the case just like airpods. I got these for the voice calls and the convenience of bluetooth though the connection doesn't drop but its so difficult for the other person to understand me when i am in a bus or a subway which is exactly where i would be needing such a thing. They were one of the very first true wireless buds but i don't like this idea as its very easy to accidentally drop them here and there as there's no cord anywhere to tangle or support.
Price: 20K
Shure 846 and Hifiman He-400i
Got the hifiman back in 2015 only to be used in 2019 with WA8 LOLz and se846 in January 2016 and they have been my daily drivers for a long time now they share their duties with ALO Lyra-ii.
Price: Se846 1000$(currently available for 800$)
He-400i 500$(currently available for 200-250$)
My bedside Rig
What's next?
There's a bunch of it and i am going to pick one they are as follows
LCD-2, Lcd-3, HE-1000V2, HE-1000se, HE-Arya, HD-800S,HD-820, Denon 9200, Utopia, Stax 009s and the list goes on there's a meze flagship as well and out of the bunch i am considering HIFIMAN ARYA based upon the price to performance ratio, sonic preference and matching gear so wish me luck.
NOTE: The prices were calculated according to the current exchange rates so they might go up and down plus based on the prices I had to pay so your milage will vary. US prices are confusing as they dont include taxes so something might be 1800$ but you get it delivered for 2000$ or so.
