my dad had done quite a research on this.......u can guess y
he gave me this conclusion tht music is not haram......its the message that is conveyed through it that is wrong...........and i vaguely remember a Zakir Naik's tape which said the same thing

I know what you people are trying to do.
You people are trying to make yourselves believe that music is not haraam if it doesn't have bad words in it or if it doesn't drive you away from islam. Blah Blah Blah This is extreme bullshit. You cannot just say that. I have read the hadith which says: Aur woh log jo nach gana kartay hain un ko bata do.....I will ask my friend to give me the full hadith and the reference.
This means MUSIC IS HARAAM. No questions asked. Zakir Naik answered the exact same way.
And no matter how much you try to make me wrong. You know you deep down inside that you are doing a sin. And so am I.
We are all sinners. We don't pray on time. We don't goto the mosque to pray 5 times a day.
Although i'm trying my best to that. But i'm speaking generally.
So better start thinking bros

Absoulutely Wrong. I remember word to word in his speech. He said "All insturumental Music is 100% Haraam except duff. Which was play be girls when Hazrat Muhammad PBUH came to Makkah"
I searched the net and i am very close to his video of that.
Lots of sites say abt Zakir Naik's speech:
Here's one guy:
"theres a program on ARY, After Iftar with Dr. Zakir Naik and he said, that music is haram but poetry and naats are permitted. the only instrument allowed in Islam is the duff. so if you listen to a song with no vulgarity and only uses the tabla, ur good. i must admit, i do listen to music but only in the car, don't listen at home."

@hasan
from the source you provided
While everyone agrees that all forms of music that contain pagan, sensual themes, or subliminal messages are clearly forbidden, the latter group of scholars considers all forms of music free of such themes and messages as permissible.

As a matter of fact, we know from the authentic traditions that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, not only allowed music in the weddings but also listened to girls singing: While listening to girls singing on such an occasion, he interrupted them only once when they sang the following verse, “In our midst is a prophet who knows what will happen tomorrow”; whence, the Prophet, peace be upon him, told them, “Cut this sentence out, and continue singing what you have been singing earlier.” There is nothing in the sources to indicate that the above permission is limited to the occasion of wedding, as some people tend to think.

In light of these, according to the last mentioned group of scholars, music that is deemed to be free of un-Islamic and unethical themes and messages, the same is true of musical instruments so long as they are not used for the above, have been considered as permissible.
It sums it up that, music is only haram if it contains un-islamic and unethical themes/lyrics etc

according to this description would, can we say that the latest najam's song is un-islamic...in other words haram?....not going off topic just using this song as an example.....

Bro we can't sum things on a huge scale on a forum or a site. This requires an extensive debate between all people who say its is haraam and all those who say it is not haraam.
Junaid Jamshed who has left music told on TV that he has done more research than anyone and he came to the conclusion that music is absolutely haraam. He said that Khuda Kay Liye was wrong on this and i dislike the movie only because of this.

I can't argue on this with you as i have limited knowledge about the topic, but on the other hand i can't accept your views; how do i believe that you are speaking the truth...?

the only instrument allowed in Islam is the duff
duff is allowed in islam, its a music instrument...
just like that a guitar is a music instrument too......so how can you consider it as haram?like it doesn't fire bullets or does it?....i am not targeting you just clearing my views....

I don't believe in ahadith, nor does my family. Sorry.
have no words for this..........
Spoiler: show
if i ask how can you be a Muslim then?...this will take the whole thread in another direction....lets just leave it

that was a lil sarcasm i did back there

Narrates ‘A’ishah (rta): The Messenger (sws) of God came to my residence while two female singers were singing the songs of Bu‘ath.1 The Holy Prophet (sws) lay down and turned his face to the other side. Meanwhile Abu Bakr (rta) entered and [seeing the singers] rebuked me thus: ‘Satanic musical instruments in the presence of the Holy Prophet (sws)?’ On hearing this God’s Messenger (sws) turned towards him and said: ‘Let them [sing and rejoice]’. When Abu Bakr was engaged in some other business, I signalled to the girls [to go out] and they left. It was on the ‘Id day.2 (Bukhari, No: 907)
We can conclude from this narrative the following points:
· The Mother of the believers, ‘A’ishah (rta), was listening to songs on ‘Id day.
· The songs were being sung in the residence of the Holy Prophet (sws).
· A professional singer was performing.3
· The song was not a hymn to God; rather a relic of a war fought before the advent of Islam.
· The mother of the believers did not stop listening to the song even after the Holy Prophet had arrived.
· The Holy Prophet (sws) did not forbid her from listening to the song.
· He did not stop the female singers either.
· He himself was not attracted to the performance but he must have heard the song as he could hear Abu Bakr’s comments.
· Abu Bakr (rta) condemned the practice at first sight and declared that these were satanic instruments.
· When he tried to stop the singers and censure the listeners, the Holy Prophet (sws) stopped him from doing so.

Well don't let anyone be a muslim here. Alright?
Do you think i am wrong for what i said?
Do you know there is a thing called HADITHS E QUDSIS?
Which are Allah's words spoken by Hazrat Muhammad PBUH.
And you don't believe in hadiths? They are lies? Aren't they?
Then you don't believe in what Allah or what Hazrat Muhammad said...right?
That means you shouldn't beleive in Quran because it came from Allah and spoken and narrated by Hazrat Muhammad PBUH and you call yourself a muslim.
Ha.....
