We are not discussing your interests, we are discussing the sorry state of affairs of multiplayer on Sony platform.

For all its worth you play only mobile games if you like them. This is not the concern over here.

cmon dude lets not bring an abomination here.. mobile games lol they were fun till the 3310 era snake was good but the new trend of playing pubg and shit on mobiles pfft thats an abomination

now as far as my interest is concerned iampasha posted a pic on previous page. that is what i was talking about.

as far as i see MP gaming on the ps4 i think its going pretty darn solid seeing current state and i actually see alot more paid users playing online on ps4 than free to play ones on the pc.

You will be glad to hear that Mobile platform is now Activisions leading platform as far as Q4 of last year was concerened. That is why Activision was forced to make its core mode free2play on consoles too. They are huge cash cows with the casual market.

Even the revenue chart is not exactly in Call of Doody's favor. Not only does it count ALL games ever released (ones that no one plays now lol), the 2019 revenue is based on two games.
Literally doesn't matter. Annual releases is the Call of Duty franchise's business model, an on-going free to play release is Crossfire's. Call of Duty's revenue is bigger by a wide margin. And Crossfire is only big in a few Asian markets (mainly China), whereas Call of Duty is a global phenomenon.

And just so we're on-topic too, here are some neat cheats that can be used in Crossfire today

On top of that Sony does not have any investment as far as multiplayer domain is concerned.
With the exception of UC1, every Naughty dog game released since the last generation has had a multiplayer mode. They're now working on a standalone multiplayer game. That said, Sony didn't invest in multiplayer FPS games this gen like it did last gen.

Battlefield 1 was also offered free.
Nope, Battlefield 1 was never free on PS4, nor is Modern Warfare (only one mode is). The only part of BF1 that was made free for a while was its DLC. But since we're on the subject of BF1, aka Necrokiller's favorite Battlefield game, let's see how healthy the player base is on each platform :hah:

Battlefield 1's popularity has fallen among many competing shooters but the game maintains an active player base. According to Battlefield Tracker, the game secures tens of thousands of players daily during peak times. PlayStation 4 sees average peaks of 50,000 players, while Xbox One and PC see 30,000 and 20,000 respectively.
https://www.windowscentral.com/battlefield-1-2018

You have to combine the Xbox and PC player base to actually match PS4's lol.

I am sorry but Sony platform is not a place to be if you are into multiplayer gaming.
lol this thread is constantly proving that PC is not the place to play multiplayer games. Low player base in non-free to play games and rampant cheaters.

Heck, it's even proving why Necrokiller should be playing on PS4. His two favorite multiplayer FPS games are only active on PS4 :hah:

This revenue stats shared by @Necrokiller is between 5 -6 platforms.
The stats I shared were for franchise revenue since their inception, regardless of platform. Based on that "Call of Doody" is a much bigger deal than Crossfire.

This is really what all these threads are about. Getting people to pay Sony, fo' lyfe

Wtf is this? When did I say this?

As for BF1 not being active:

Heck, even BF3 is still active today.

What next made up thing is he gonna wrong about, let see

Oops, messed up the quote there lol.

It's lockdown season, enjoy the increased activity while it lasts lol. 20,000 active players isn't worth boasting about

Those 20,000 PC players are mainly in the West. Enjoy them while they last lol. For anyone outside of North America, it's tough to find a game.
Goal post shifted from player base to revenue. Now goal post shifted from not being active to not being active outside NA. lol

They've been lasting longer than you would've imagined so go shill for Sony elsewhere :hah:

Caught before the edit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

BF1 was still active outside of lockdown as well. Another excuse made up to swing the argument.

Yeah now the free 2 play mobile version of Call of Doody will be part of these revenue figures too. Fact is, only the figures generated by the most active and recent game being played are relevant.

Why shouldn't the mobile release be included in future revenue figures? Is it not a "Call of Doody" game? PUBG and Fortnite revenues also include their mobile versions. This is standard practice. The forthcoming Crossfire remake and sequel will also be factored into franchise revenue.

P.S. A 20k peak player base isn't what I'd call active tbh.

Had PS4 been 80K and PC at 50K, haters would still call the PC version not active.

The article the figure is taken from is literally making the case that it still has a healthy following

I load up the game and find a bunch of full 64 player servers. Thats active for me.

On PC, one Redditor shows the Titanfall 2 multiplayer userbase sitting at around 3,500, which is more than a 200% increase from its usual average of 1000 players online. Similarly, the PS4 version of the game has seen numbers close to 5000, up from 3000, while the Xbox One Titanfall 2 community recently reached a whopping 10,000 concurrent players, double its pre-Apex Legends average of 5000.

Let me guess, PS4 is still active but PC and Xbox versions aren't? :hah:

1) A sudden spike as a "Freebie" doesn't mean those numbers are still true today. Even Apex Legends gave TF2 a temporary boost lol. Has it retained even a quarter of that number esp after the "trash" Warzone which doesn't require PS+? Not likely.
2) That just makes it "free" 2 play trash now

3) Lastly, your assumption that the dwindling player base is due to cheating has no basis in reality. Its an issue with the game, not the platform its on

But sadly, the sales didn't reach the expectations. This was due to two reasons. The first was EA's terrible marketing treatment to Titanfall franchise, and the second was that the title launched at the same time as Battlefield 1. And of course, these "kind-of" outside factors probably played a big part in butchering the sales.

Looking back now, it was sad seeing a title like Titanfall 2 fail while being an awesome game. But you still have the chance to check out Titanfall 2 if you never had. And it's probably the best time because it's free. (duh!)

December wasn't too long ago. In your earlier post, you linked to a year+ old article with Titanfall 2 stats :hah:

I don't have the game installed at the moment, but if you really aren't satisfied with stats from a few months ago, I could try booting it up over the weekend to update you on player stats. A lot of people who added the game to their ps plus library are likely still playing it. Warzone and Titanfall 2 aren't mutually exclusive lol.

That just makes it "free" 2 play trash now
lol not quite. You needed ps plus to both acquire and play it. Moreover, the offer was only available for a month. It's somewhat similar to GTAV going free on EGS for a limited period. Is that a free to play game too? :hah:

But while GTAV going free for a limited period led to an increase in cheating, Titanfall being a ps plus game gave it the boost it deserved.

Lastly, your assumption that the dwindling player base is due to cheating has no basis in reality.
Cheating is only now becoming a factor, as it has grown considerably over the last few years. Hackers are making big money off of the cheats that they sell. It's a lucrative business. It's also now that the gaming press is seriously highlighting the issue. AAA multiplayer shooters don't do so well on PC to begin with. A prime example is "Call of Doody", which is historically dead in a few months. Maybe people don't like paying for annual or bi-annual releases on the platform. Would explain the popularity of on-going free to play shooters, such as Crossfire.

The time spent to check TF2 count on PS4 wouldn't prove that the player count on PC is affected by cheating.

"Considerably"
"Making big money"
"Seriously highlighting"
"Don't do so well"
"Historically dead"

Holy sh*t at this sensationalism

Video game cheating is back in the headlines | Eurogamer

"The fight against cheat programs is never-ending," Taeseok Jang said, "and something we've been trying very hard to find a solution for". PUBG has been criticised for apparently doing little to fight cheating, but Taeseok Jang insisted work had gone on behind the scenes.
Valorant, Riot's new competitive multiplayer shooter, is in closed beta, but it's still suffering from cheating. Its controversial anti-cheat system must be installed on a PC before the game will run, but even so, cheating has emerged in this fledgling game.

In an interview with IGN, Riot programmer and anti-cheat lead Paul Chamberlain said cheating in the game started even earlier than he anticipated.

"My estimate before launch was that we'd see our first real cheats within the first two weeks of the beta," Chamberlain said. "It turns out I was optimistic and instead we only had a few days of quiet before we had to be working at full steam ahead."
@manigamer for the sake of clarity, can we change the thread title from "The Verge:" to "Multiple sources:"?

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
