The beloved Monster Hunter RPG gets a Switch sequel
Capcom announced two different Monster Hunter games during Thursday’s Nintendo Direct Mini, including a sequel to the beloved Monster Hunter Stories. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will come to Nintendo Switch in summer 2021.
The game’s first trailer focuses primarily on the story, with full voice acting. We see characters hanging out in jungle areas, caring for famous Monster Hunter monsters, like the infamous Rathalos and Monster Hunter: World’s Anjanath.
The original Monster Hunter Stories has a Pokémon vibe to it. Instead of hunting monsters, players steal eggs and hatch them, caring for the baby monsters and raising them into friends. The monsters then battle alongside you in turn-based combat. Players can also ride on their monster friends.
It’s currently unclear when exactly Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will launch on Nintendo Switch, or what new features the sequel will bring to the series.
