Source: How to Watch Microsoft's Oct. 6 Event | Digital TrendsNot to be outdone by Google and Apple’s press events last month, Microsoft is readying a slew of big announcements on its next line of Windows 10 devices. The event will be streamed live on October 6th, at 10 a.m. Eastern, 7 a.m. Pacific Time, and we’ve got the lowdown on how to watch it as well as what we expect to see during the press conference.
Right off the bat, it’s clear that Microsoft is readying announcements about its newest OS, Windows 10, and the devices that run it. Due to some gaffe’s on Microsoft’s part, we can reasonably expect the official announcement of its next flagship phones: the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. It’s also likely we will see other devices, such as a new Surface Pro tablet, not to mention plenty of information about new build of Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile. And that’s just what we can confidently speculate on; who knows what other big announcements Microsoft may have waiting.

This event might be make or break for Windows' mobile platform as far as I'm concerned. Windows Phone is far far behind its competitors in almost every aspect. It'll be interesting to note what strategy Microsoft implements to tackle this issue and what incentives it brings forth to attract developers towards the WP platform.
