Unfortunately no, there's a few big cut-scenes in mission 30, but after that you start doing previous missions on EXTREME difficulty or total stealth as mentioned above. 90% of the story is relegated to the cassettes.@Chandoo ....... DOes the story pick up the pace at some point? that's my biggest complaint with the game so far, the story moves way too slow, or maybe it's just that there's not that much of it there.
For example, we see 'the man on fire' a few times in the story, but his identity, how he came to be as he is and his ultimate fate etc are all revealed through side stuff or tapes. The design changes in the game are very bizarre. Kojima took the tape idea from Peace Walker but seemingly forgot that Peace Walker has about 5~6 hours of cutscenes in the comic book style too.
You may have also seen the "cut mission 51" on the net by now, apparently that 'supposed' final mission which is not in the game was to have an actual final boss fight and put an actual end on Eli and Big Boss's story, instead as it is, Eli's arc just gets forgotten mid-way through the game.
One thing i really love about the story though is the total maniacal turn Huey's character takes. I mean, he is fucked UP. Otacon turned out an angel in comparison.
