Aoa,

Hi guys Murtaza here, as the title suggests I have a BBA (Hons) in Finance from Indus University, Karachi and want to know if there is some way I can shift my academic focus to computer science ala MCS. Please let me know the possibilities preferabbly in Karachi University.

Even if i have to attempt some sort of PGD ill do it but please just tell me there is a way.. im stuck with this Finance degree pretty bad as my career is also based on IT. Please and thanks.

Best,
Murtaza

technically it shouldnt be allowed but i have seen people doing MSIT after B.COm's
so you would have to goto campuses and check as i dont exactly know the names of institutes allowing this

I did MBA in MIS on the basis of bcom degree, it's not the same as MCS, but I felt no hindrance at all either from the university or academically

Yes you can do Mcs via Pgd route from University of Karachi department of computer science . Remember that you are required to qualify admission test for pgd then after successful completion of two semesters course of pgd again you need to appear in mcs admission test in order to get admitted in mcs.
It may interest you to know that KUCS dept known for its high criteria of student selectivity.

Thank you for your replies guys, thanks a lot. Just a few more questions from the gentlemen who replied;
blover thanks for replying, I heard that KU offers that route via PGD in stats but in the admission criteria for PGD stats it says that only students that have NOT studied stats as a subject in their graduation as eligible; but I studied stats, shouldn't I be exempted from this PGD altogether? Or must i do the PGD anyway?
Chi3f thanks for replying chief sb, can you please confirm the admission criteria, fee and tenure of the MCS offering at PAF KIET? Is it 2 years long as at KU?

Please and thank you!

let me clearify you further, actually there are three types of PGD ,you have a choice of selecting only one PGD out of three ,after which you can take admission in mcs .these are below
1) PGD (Cis) offered by computer science department cs departmental addmission test is criteria for admission.
2) PGD (statistics) offered by statistics department criteria for admission percentage merit list of bachelor degree
If you have already studied statistics for two semesters in your bachelors ( bsc level statistics ) than this course is not for you.
3) PGD (maths) offered by mathematics department criteria for admission percentage merit list of bachelor degree

O-M-G!!

That means I have to study 3 years worth of PGDs just to get admission in MCS... no thanks! I'll try my luck with PAF KIET.
Thanks for replying tho :) jazakAllah

No dear you need to do any one PGD , you have a choice of selecting one PGD out of three.means only one year PGD
( two semester of 6 months each) before mcs.

I don't get the weird obsession people have with CS. F*ck CS man.
I'm currently working as a Business Analyst and want to apply for immigration, the freaks there want an absolute relation between degree and job - which I lack :(
That's why i'm solving 2 problems here, Im building that relevancy and doing my Masters. And yes, it sounds stupid!
