I have a really old iPod Touch 2nd Generation 8GB it was in my closet collecting dust until i decided to give it to my daughter i bought new cable and charger and it works but not perfectly i just cant make youtube app work i know its old and i cannot update youtube now but videos atleast should work i guess i cannot even download facebook from apple store anyways i checked date and time and even reset it but you tube gives me this message "cannot connect to youtube" safari works google maps works, weather app is also working so what can i do so that atleast youtube starts working.

The reason why youtube app is not working is bcoz google has stopped supporting it ages ago. I still remember that I had a iphone 3gs long ago & the app did not even work then. Even on a newer iphone 4s, the youtube app crashes all the time & does not even run smoothly when it does play. You could try jailbreaking your ipod touch. It is very simple to do & maybe cydia store(Jailbreak only) have some alternative. Ipods are only good for music listening & even then you have to go through hoops(Itunes) to put music in it.

iOS 4.2.1 can i do anything try jail break? maybe?
