Installing SSD

I have an old hp probook 4530s and as i want to use it for university purpose i really want it to perform fast as its alot slow so im thinking of changing its hdd with an ssd but before doing that i want to ask can i really replace an ssd with hdd? (Sorry never used an ssd before [emoji28]) does hdd and ssd both have same ports?
And lastly how much does a used 120gb ssd cost?
