Well, i use Rs.1000 per month cable net and get speeds of usually between 25-45 kilobytes, sometimes with DAP the speeds momentarily go to 60-70 but its rare and lasts for 30 seconds at the most. But today with utorrent i have been getting speed of 90 kilobyte + and it has been going on for the last 3 hours. Fingers crossed hoping this lasts.
P.S: Does anyone know why this is happening ?
This is nothing new, now a days cablenet wala with a bit better technical sense use the restriction known as "Bandwidth Cap" to restrict the bandwidth/download speed on the group/users basis to save the main bandwidth in the pool and equally distribute the speed between all the users.
My cablenet wala do the same, we are set on 35 KB/sec, but sometimes it gets jumps to 50-60 for few seconds or even minutes, this is happens becasue the network traffic don't flow in a constant rate (depends on many factors like nodes, switches etc) and the donwload managers like IDM/DAP try to fecth the maximum data from the nodes..which results in those bandwidth/speed boots for seconds/minutes.
Sometimes, during a configuration error the "bandwidth cap" restriction services gets stop on the server and as a result the users started to gets the maxium available bandwidth from the pool (bypass the cap), few months ago when my cable wala bandwidith caps got break, I used to get the following speed: (I also got 1.5MB/s once, for 2 days
