FML :| just woke up and posted that haha didn't think it through :p what I mean is the difference is not big enough that you should be worried about. I am myself using Intel 520 120GB SSD for the last 10months or so and I am satisfied. It serves as my boot drive + houses games that I mostly play I.e dota 2 lol

My vocabulary fails me but that statement is kinda contradicting itself lol

This PC is getting closer and closer to becoming a reality.

Here's my dilemma. Originally, I suggested to my boss that I should start learning iOS development (currently a mostly self-taught Android dev). He said great idea. However, I was gonna need a separate PC for it, so I took a look at Tonymac's buyer guide and the Pro build there was about 70k Rupees.

Now however, I've discovered that HP's ProBook series of Laptops are great for creating a hackintosh. I'm going to trade my DV6 with a ProBook and install Mac on it, and build this yummy Haswell PC as my desktop for Android development (and gaming ofc) :p

Initially had a budget of 60k.. But I guess I have to push it to 80 if I want a decent rig (without graphics card for now.. will get that in a couple of months).

LOL I was thinking that I'd put the OS and dota2 on it too (and HoN :p).

So when are the new mobos coming to IMX/Galaxy etc? I plan on getting everything from IMX - IF they offer a better price.

From what alien told me x87 Asrocks should be here by mid-end July.

p.s BTW galaxy pindi charges rs100-300 more than website prices because of shipping charges from KHI to Pindi :p at least that's what they did last year.

Hackintoshing is an interesting hobby, which requires lot of patience and time at hand.

With the components you've mentioned like and H77 gigabyte, a series III CPU, and any of Nvidia 6xx cards will do the trick.
However, I prefer injecting SLIC2.1 in the mobo's EFI/UEFI for dual booting, you can find Gigabyte SLIC 2.1 and Certs easily.

The key however is creation of a bootable USB that works for your setup, DSDT editing patching and making HDMI sound out work. Copmared to Z77-D3H, the H77-DS3H has AL887 codec which is much easier to configure than the prior one (which unfortunatley is the one that I have).

If you want to use wifi buy one of these cards:
TL-WN781ND
TL-WDN4800

Both are available in Pakistan, later one works out of Box and prior one requires some kext editing, I have both of them working fine in both of my Hackintoshes.

Nutshell all you need is a working Mac(intel based)/ Hackintosh to create the USB, mentioned compenents are alright.

I've given up that idea. After some research I concluded that running Mac OS inside VMWare etc is usable. However, I haven't seen it myself.

Can you tell me if its totally usable? I need to be able to use Xcode and related tools. How good is it?

The system will be Haswell based with plenty of RAM (around 12gigs).

I have Four Hackintoshes in service, and by all means it is a practical project.

Except for the one based on Intel 946GZIS, the other ones GA-EP35-DS3L (with system defintion of Mac Pro 3.1) and GA-Z77-D3H Sandy/IVY (iMac 12.2) and Gigabyte GA-Z77X everything including mac app store, time machine, QE/QI. Wifi Xcode, MPLAB, Hitech C are working without any problem whatsoever.
All of them are With WIN 7 OEM & Dual boot OSX with SLIC 2.1 injected.

These are as good machines as real macs and vmware is as horrible as it gets.

Once you have the hardware drop me a line and I'll hopefully make you a working USB installer, otherwise go over here and buy any of the mentioned boards.

But since I'm planning on spending over a 100k on the rig, I wanted to go with a Haswell build. There is currently little to no support for it :(

How about I get a HP Probook for it? And keep this PC for my normal stuff?

I've read on tonymac that the Probook is 100% compatible with Mac OS.

Dont have much idea about portables beyond dell mini and toshiba qosmio.

I do remember coming across simon hawketts blog on Pro Book Hackintosh, you can try your luck.

In my experience any computer whose BIOS /EFI/UEFI is compatible, whose DSDT you can edit, OSX can be installed on it obviously will require lot of hit and trial, DSDT editing, kext modification etc.

@StrikerX Is there a significant difference between the Samsung 840 Pro Series and the Intel 520 Series?

The 520 is available at IMX wheras the 840 Pro can be imported at $160 per drive.

Also, best RAM module? 2x4GB. Range = 5-7k (Amazon store included)

Samsung 840 Pro is new and is hands down better than Intel 520 but lack of warranty will put me off but Intel 520 is still by no means bad. Let me quote xbitlabs summary of SSDs (was posted last month in their review of 840 Pro)

Review: Samsung 840 Pro and Samsung 840 Solid State Drives Review. Page 10 - X-bit labs

Coming to RAM, simply get the cheapest 1600 MHz one (Corsair, Kingston, G.SKILL, etc). Spending on higher rated ram doesn't warrant an improvement in games or applications (difference is negligible), just synthetic benchmarks.

So RAM to phir local he sahi? And well, I think if I'm spending 16,000 on an item.. I'd like the best performance.

Anything else I should get from there?

Yes HP Probook 4530 specs are closer to MacBook so it's most compatible also some of HP Envy models and Dell Alienware, I really don't like tonymac bcz of their multibeast, unibeast stuff, chameleon & clover are best.

I made a Mountain Lion 10.8.3 bootable USB with the help of real MacBook Pro for my bro's Dell inspiron 5520, each and everything works just fine (with proper kexts but its trial and error) Intel HD4000 (Full hardware acceleration), Camera, LAN, Bluetooth, dvdrom etc only wifi are not working.

So u'll need a Virtual machine (Virtual Box or VMware ) or real Mac to make a bootable USB as there's no other way.

Using OSX inside Virtual Machine is a no go bcz it doesn't provide QE/CI (graphics hardware accelaration) which is needed for optimal OSX performance, so it's lags a lot.
