I got a Dell Latitude E6510 and all of a sudden the touchpad stopped working. I tried a lot of things, but the touchpad just won't work. I tried updating the drivers, downloading and installing the driver "DELL_MULTI-TOUCH_TOUCHPAD_A04_R269801" from Dell consumer support, and even updating the bios. I am really frustrated and don't know what else to do. Can someone please give me a hint on what I could do to get the touchpad to work? Thanks a lot.

Take it to the Dell company and tell them to fix it for you. As the touch pad is an entire sensor area, there's not much you can do about it when it goes bad.

You have not defined it well. TouchPad is combination of tap, pointer and mouse buttons. AND I guess this model has got dual buttons for left and right click, one set above the touchpad and one set beneath it. What is not working actually? Only pointer not working or tap is also dead ? Do left and right click buttons work or not ? If none of them is working, than I am afraid you will have to get its entire palm assembly replaced. But if any of them is alive, a good technician can fix it. However, first of all, try a clean installation of windows. If you are lucky enough, you might get them back at work.
