Help a Dota n00b!

Well i used to play Dota a lot before but now im totally stumped with so many new heroes and balancing changes.
So any tips/tricks?
I could use anything and everything helpful.........

Dude the best thing I can advise is to watch some replays. Also take heroes with good farming abilities and easy mechanics. E.g Razor has good ms, lane control and an excellent farmer. Last thing but not least would be to follow some guides and builds.

Simply pick Lycanthrope, get power treads, S&Y and you can't lose. Then start experimenting from their onwards.

It's simple get a hero like Tinker or Dwarwen Sniper who have ranged attacks and then get Power Threads , Bracers , Wraith Bands and Crystallsis and later on go for Sange and Yasha !! After you have got enough gold get at least one Ultimate Orb !! Now keep attacking the creeps to increase level and face ur opponents . Later on when u have lv 18 just go and fight Roshan !! He is a big red dot on map !! Kill him and you will get Aegesis of Immortality !! Now you have the control of game !!

I think i've gotten better now.
Practicing against AI with a handicap but i do pretty well with "my" heroes like Mortred, Night Stalker, Clinkz.
Been trying some new ones, i like the troll Warlord, Medusa , the Faceless Void is nice too.
Would love to get into some of the better ones though.

Treads on Tinker ?

Good or bad?
Tink is an intel hero...

Standard with tinker is BoT+BKB+Scythe of Vyse/Shiva Guard. Basically, a spam hero with both abilities and inventory, as he has got Rearm ability. A key modifier will help you to spam inventory more easily.

I would suggest get him a vanguard in mid game because he really needs hp, and you have an option between guinsoo, shiva and dagon too.. i know dagon is not common but its an option if the game needs it.. like last i played with him we had 3 disablers so no need for guinsoo, i got a dagon and by the time i got level 3 dagon we were owning..

@ blooby: void and troll are just as anhilating as mortred in late game.. get either of them a butterfly and the other guy will never move, perma bash ..

The problem for me is early game.
His default attack speed is quite slow and starter items just dont make it WoWy enough.
Secondly he has no harassing abilities.
But damn once i get him that MoM his life sure stays top notch XD

I think you guys haven't tried out the premium build on Tinker.

The rapchik killer build is great for nuking but it dies out in late game. Tinker is one of the best late game heroes and the best farmer i've seen in dota.

The build that I follow is given below
- boots of Speed -> get BOT recipe later
- Diffusion blades -> convert to manta
- Guinsoo
- Radiance
- Skadi
- Linkin Sphere (bottle early)


Now the why to get these items part. Most of the items in my build are refreshed upon using Tinker's ulti

- Boots of Travel: allows you go to base and forth to back with ease
- Manta: Make images and harass. If you're detected i.e. they understand which one is the real you then cast manta again . Moreover, Manta is great for farming.
- Guinsoo: Permanent hex
- Skadi: for HP, bigger mana pool and slow
- Linkin sphere: Protects you from nukes and stuns. Moreover, you can always refresh linkin sphere if its on cooldown. Gives you hp regen and a bigger hp pool as well
- Radiance: Enchance your farming further and damage the enemy while chasing or while they are still trying to figure out which image is the real you

Summary:

- Good farming (checked)
- Escape machanisms (checked)
- Good resistance against nukes (checked)
- Good hp and mana pool (checked)

And do try to watch this replay as well. It is an old replay using 1.20 w3 version and played on 6.27b but you just gotta to see this replay. You'll realize the potential in Tinker's late game abilities after watching this replay. By the way, the author is playing as tinker in this replay. Very good game! I myself use your tinker build from your tinker guide and have won many impossible games. Once we were down 2 people...but with manta guinsoo and bot I finally pushed for the win!

yea early game is the key to be imba with these heroes.. what i do is just try to kill creeps if i get a harassing hero or a ranged one in my lane then i just try to survive till i get MoM after that a couple of kills and i am bak on track ..

btw very nice build deso.. i havent played that much with tinker but i can see that this build would make him imba..

@Deso, that build has gone slightly out of practice. I personally go 2x Talisman, Bottle, boots of travel,BKB, guinsoo/shivas guard.

@blooby, treads are bad on tinker because he is not a DPS hero but a caster. Treads are a purely DPS item and the reason you are having early game problems is because the heroes you are picking. They are all low hp agility carries meaning there job early is to just survive and farm up until late game when they have much more DPS. Try playing with lane dominators such as Viper/Zeus or DPS tank hybrids such as Dragon Knight or hard to kill heroes such as Stealth Assasin, Phantom lancer.
