HBL Debit card and Netflix

Hi everyone. I'm sure you all know that Netflix has come to Pakistan for some time now. My question is, has anyone used any of the debit cards (online activated) and see them work? If yes, how did Netflix charge you for the monthly cycle?

As you know first month is Free. But they charge you for 1 month and give you 2 month subscription. Charges are monthly deducted. Used MCB CC.

I see. So it worked with MCB. Is it always online activated? I mean, what if Netflix wishes to deduct the monthly funds but can't due to the card not being activated?

Mine is always activated. But if its not, then Netflix will notify you by e mail and stop providing services.

Okay. Would you have an idea as to whether a HBL debit card would work? Their policy is to first call and get activated.

MCB's debit card does not work online. You can't even activate it to work online.. I tried netflix with MCB Lite. Worked absolutely smoothly. Although they claim the first month is free, when you register, 1 month's charge will be deducted. But this will then work for 2 months... meaning first month IS indeed free. But if you choose to unsubscribe in the first month, you will be returned all the money... No charges whatsoever.

I think I was charged very little above the dollar conversion rate.. I think it was 20 or 30 rs.

I will warn you about one thing: Don't subscribe. Netflix is absolutely useless in Pakistan. Very old movies, no latest movies whatsoever. The only 2 TV shows that seemed latest were Narcos and Making of a Murderer.. If you are so curious, do try it. But if you find it useless, like I did, unsubscribe from it within the first month so that you may not be charged for anything..

Yes, I am aware of Netflix's limited catalog here which is why I was going to also use a VPN + DNS alteration. I was just consulting for an appropriate debit card that could work. Thank you for your insight though.
