Generator switch not working what to do

Hey guys I wanted to know what could be the issue if a home generator is not starting. To clarify, when I move the switch from off to on, nothing happens, not even a whirring sound. I'm guessing it could be a wire issue, or battery issue but I want to get rid of this as soon as possible because summers have started.

the battery is surely discharged if you haven't used it in the whole winters.

Check the battery, if it is fine and the terminals are clean then probably your solenoid has gone bad.
You can also try fixing it yourself. (just open and clean the contacts)
