Gaming Laptop - Help me choose

I am getting a desktop replacement Laptop. I think GTX 260 can handle any game easily. The problem is to choose between these three laptops. Asus G51 looks good but Gateway wins in price competition but I am worried about its screen resolution. Please help me pick the best laptop guys. I really need some help here.

P.S.: I live in Canada so don't ask questions like "How can you ship to Pakistan?" or "You cannot buy these in Pakistan"

all are almost the same but

the gateway looks like a good deal to me, supporting ddr3 and cheaper than the others.. i would definitely go for this one...

Dude...I need portability nowadays and some decent gaming along with it too. Alienware is out of my budget now but Inshallah next year I'll be buying a new desktop.

So you prefer 4Gb DDR3 over 6GB DDR2? Does this make any difference?

well ddr3 is better than a ddr2.. the motherboard would definitely be a superone for supporting ddr3... no prb if its 2gb less, u will always have an upgrade option....

if u ask abt resolution... i think it has very good resolution for a laptop... for a screen this size, this resolution is good... later on u can choose that urself by connecting it through an HDMI cable to an HDTV..

^ ddr3 is better but there is no use to purchase ddr3 ram for core2duo quadcore
ddr3 is good only for i5 and i7 processors

Ok. I have not owned a laptop but I will just try to point out the differences between the three.

G51VX (on Newegg)= 4GB DDR2
Gateway = 4GB DDR3
G72GX = *** DDR2 (Does not specify the exact memory size)

G51VX: 4GB DDR2: 320GB 7200RPM: 15.6': DVD Writer: 6 cell lithium: 2 years
Gateway: 4GB DDR3: 320GB 5400RPM: 17': DVD Writer: 9 cell : 1 year
G72GX: Does not specify (6GB DDR2?): 500GB 5400RPM: 17.3': DVD Writer / Bluray Combo (Which one really?): 8 cell: 2 years

First two has 320GB HDD and G72 has 500GB. G51 has faster HDD than the others (7200 RPM). First two has 4GB while the third probably has 6GB (judging from your post). First one has 15.6 inch display while the others has 17 inch. Maybe the G72 you are buying also has Bluray Combo.. :$. My selection would be G72 for more ram (forget about DDR2 and DDR3 with Duos and Quads), more hard disk drive capacity (although a bit slower than the G52), larger display, 2 years warranty and perhaps blu-ray combo.

Have no personal experience with laptops so wait for other suggestions from more experienced gurus.

checkout nvidia website there are few gaming laptos sli setup if anyone is in your range order it from nvidia if u can.

sorry the previous gateway had a 9800gt but this has a 260m ... asus g51 has better built quality according to most reviews .. it comes with a Razer Copperhead MOuse and a Sexy looking Asus carrying bag as well


If u are still a bit confused check out the reivews as www.notebookreview.com ..... asus is a bit expensive though but if ur budget is flexible then u shud definitely go for it

OK guys! I have made up my mind. I am going to buy G72. It comes in Quad Core too. So will there be considerable difference if I buy the Quad Core model?
