FUCK man. I knew that Oberyn would die but watching the Mountain gouge his eyes and smash his head shook me up more than Ned Stark's death and the Red Wedding combined.
Oh, come on. Really?

Isn't Tyrion as good as dead now? What am I missing?

Think about it, we never actually saw Ned Stark getting his head shopped off. Robb got fraught with arrows and Catelyn got her throat slit but this was definitely the most brutal 'good guys' death.

All about Tyrion's fate will be revealed in the next episode or the finale.

Tyrions words were probably a foreshadowing of the end. But never did I expected his character to end like this, but Robb's character died on the height of his fame... So I'd take it as 'Just-some-GOT-things'..

Is The Mountain dead? Abuses will lead to ban took a spear in his spine twice!
What would happen for Tryion if both of them die?

BTW that Ygritte shush scene could make the best "No tears only dreams" gif, I'll try my hand at that when I reach home.

After Ned's beheading and The Red Wedding, I thought it would get easier to watch the show after reading the books.

The moment was a shocker as hell in books as well but I didn't know the showrunners would do such an amazing job bringing the moment to TV, especially Pedro Pascal who's depiction of the Red Viper is far better than in the books.

ASOIF fans are aware of GRRM's affinity to kill of fan favorite characters but you never really get used to it.

This was by far the most brutal death scene I have ever witnessed on screen. It really shook the foundations of my soul even though I knew it was coming.
The shattered teeth. Oberyn's scream. Ellaria's scream. Nailed it.

tyrion advising the prince to wear a helmet -> was an indication of a future event
in this episode, littlefinger counted out the ways a man can die to robert..... and all of them have happened in the show except one -> is this also an indication?

i think the death of the red viper will bring his kingdom into the 'game' of thrones too now. but this does show that they are really fierce fighters. he just didnt kill the mountain bcoz he didnt want to. brilliantly executed. would have been better if he threw the spear through tywins chest after asking who gave you the orders :D

That's what I stated in my last post. I almost thought that he'd throw that spear to Tywin.

We did. Watch Season 01 more clearly.

The Mountain was dead, see how he collapsed after killing Oberyn?

Why is everyone here so sure that Tyrion is going to die?

I am NOT. If GRRM wanted Tyrion to die, he would have NEVER left it to another episode. The thing is, whenever he wants to kill a character, he never stretches it to two episodes, he does it in an instant. And he does what's unexpected, what people can't see is coming.

I am placing my bets that Tyrion is NOT dying atm.

(I am NOT a book reader)

Something they didn't show in the fight is that Oberyn poisons his spears before the fight. So guys, the Mountain gets stabbed with poisoned spears.

I've seen this show at least three times over and over. We don't see his head getting chopped off, the screen becomes blank as soon as the sword comes in contact with Ned's head.

I wonder what exactly is the point if all the good guys r just gonna keep getting brutalized

Every story needs a feel good moment but we r yet to see it in Game of Thrones
Spoiler: show
Joffery's death just didnt seem to outweigh Ned Stark / Red Wedding / Oberyn's Dead

Such is the manner in which tales by George Martin pan out. I am constantly reminded by readers of his books that it is excruciatingly annoying how he kills off any characters you begin to like. Let's be prepared to be angered as we carry on.
