File sharing over router with laptop EXTREMELY SLOW

Salam guys. I recently created a homegroup between my pc and my laptop through TP link wr740n router. It's working just fine but the speeds are a pain in the ass. I mean literally i got about speeds of about 600kbps or something only. Does anyone know a fast way of sharing files over a homegroup?

Directly connect the ethernet wire from Laptop to PC (not through a router). And put your files in C:/Users
Then you can directly access any shared document, at higher speeds I hope.

Either your laptop or PC is connected at 54Mbps which is causing the bottleneck.
Also make sure the signal strength is Excellent. In case of weak signals check the Wireless Network Status from Network and Sharing Center and it'll tell that you are connected at like 11Mbps etc. which means signal strength is the issue.
