the media converter doesn't have an interface to connect to.

How is your connection set up? Does the router, which is connected to the media converter, have a cable plugged into it's wan port? If so, you need to copy that MAC Address.

Let me rephrase my original question. I was asking if i can connect to the internet with the media converter without using any sort of router in between? Just to check if the issue is coming from the router. I can connect to the internet just fine with my router.

that is why I am asking what I am asking. Fiberlink binds your routers WAN MAC address, meaning no other device will be able to authenticate onto their network.

That is why you need to spoof the MAC address onto your desktop/laptop, otherwise calling them up to change the MAC is a real pain.

Well, I get that. I already have my Computers Mac address binded to fiberlink, so i can just clone it in which ever router i am using. The thing is how do i setup ppoe settings on the media converter?

you don't, you setup a PPPOE dialup connection on your computer with your computer connected directly to the media converter

Tried directly still the same issue, Probably something wrong with the media converter or the Akbar chowk link. What media converters did fiberlink provided you guys with? I got the Gpon onu 1tge.

Oh, Well... they fixed my browsing issue. It was from back end. Thanks everyone for the help. P.s anybody getting slow downloads atm, peaking around 3.5mb/sec atm, usually around 12-13mb on the 100mb package. Torrents are fine, Steam and other downloads are a bit slow atm and the same for streaming.

Just flashed my router with ddwrt, Did not help that much, same issue.

Dude you are not alone. I am from Faisal Town & I face the same issue on daily basis during 06:00 PM to 09:00 PM so don't mess with your settings. Just ping the google through cmd & check if you get any losses or high ping if yes send them the screenshot & ask them to fix. That is how I get them to know about my issues because 99.9% of speedtests are good so they just ignore everything.
Here is the command to ping google incase.
(ping -n 50 wwwdotgoogledotcomdotpk)
Replace the dot with the real one.
Open cmd/command prompts as admin & run this to check for high ping or packet loss.

They have changed their router board in Lahore. Now I'm getting high pings to their router and slow streaming/ browsing.

Well our browsing time out issue fixed with this router thingy. But streaming and single connection downloading went crap. One problem fixed two new started.

yes, it seems to be lahore exclusive. I'm running into same issues. Single connections are maxing out at around 1-2mbps speeds. Looks like there's a load balancer installed and only a single, low bandwidth link is up most of the time.
