I got the link up. But they didn't provide any modem or wifi router. Just a converter with a lan port.

They are saying I have to purchase my own router? Is that true?

They used to provide routers as well but they aren't anymore, instead they are providing Username/ passwords. How much did you pay for installation? Do you have any routers lying around at home?

Oh ok. I have this TP Link range extender at home. I used it to extend the range of my ptcl internet. See attached images. I paid 5000 for the installation.

ONU they have provided:

They only provided the ONU. Not even a modem! Just checking to make sure I am not getting ripped off.

I wouldn't use the router provided by them anyway, TP-LINK's are really shit, i've gone through 5 in the past 6 months, plus with my connection now running 100MB I need something better than TP-LINK. I've decided I'm going to move to a Ubiquiti Unifi AC LITE or LR PRO

Silentdeath i'm not sure if you can set up a PPPoE connection on that router.
Yeah. I have an option to get Mikrotik rb2011 at a discounted price from the place where I work. Its used for 2 months only and then they upgraded to Ubiquitti access points (spaceship like access points in the roof for every room).

So is it worth getting that Mikrotik router for like 7k?

I've never heard of that router lol. If you have devices that have AC wifi, go for it!

Can you provide a link for that router? And price?

TP-Link Archer C7 price around 10k

http://www.czone.com.pk/network-pro...dual-band-gigabit-router-pakistan-p.1963.aspx

get Tp link archer C9 if you are that into routers, ita around 13k

but for a 150 meg connection you dont need AC wifi, just get any good 300N rated router you will be fine,

here is d-link one i have used it, it is real great cost just 1600 to 1800

http://www.symbios.pk/d-link-wireless-n-300-router-dir-615

edit: i forgot that you would need gigabiy lan in order to surpass 100mbps, and thats what d-link wont suppprt

Thanks! So only get the c7 if I need the extended range and the faster speed? (I have the 2500 monthly connection) so it wont be an issue if I opt for a cheaper router and add a range extender for the bottom floor. At the same time max 4-5 devices would be using the connection. Although 13-15 would be connected to it.

I've been using 2 of those very same models at my office for the past 2 years now, great piece of hardware as long as you don't push the cpu with too many queues or firewall rules. I have it setup with ~250 queues and about 10 firewall rules, working fine so far. Plus, it comes with a SFP slot, meaning you could skip the media converter provided by Fiberlink and stick the fiber directly into the RB2011.

I remember getting both at around ~17k each, so 7k is not bad, I've been using a Mikrotik hAP, bought for 8k, to run at the house. Was lying around catching dust at the office so thought why not :p

But note, I've been getting really bad wifi speeds on the hAP. My office connection is only a 40MB so haven't been able to test if it can support 100mb on wifi.

On a side note, the rb2011 is a router and not an access point, per say. So what are you now using as a router with the Ubiquiti AP's?

Don't know much about the router configuration at the office since the network guy handles that. There is a server rack which has these switches (gateway is the proper name maybe?) where everything is connected.

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
