Playstation Few suggestions Please!

Need to know PS3 owners view.
I like multiplayer first person shooter alot, like HALO.
I have xbox360 but it is modified, now i want to buy a console for online gaming.
1.Is it better to buy PS3 for online gaming or xbox360 is more better.
2.Also tell me the online games which i cant find on xbox360, the games that really represents ps3.
3.How much does it cost for PSN membership, annually or monthly?

And anything else that is necessary to know, please share with me. i will be very thankful.

If you like FPS games a lot, then stick to 360, or even PC. They offer a lot of variety. You will have to pay for xboxlive, but on the other hand PSN is free. The thing is, the games that represent PS3 are of different variety, like Uncharted (1 and 2) an adventure/action game, God of War 3, a hack and slash kind of title with plenty of sword play, Heavy Rain with a very realisic story, and pick up and play, but a very different gameplay, Ratchet and Clank (3, and 4 along with PSN title Quest for booty) a platformer which is part of Sony's holy trinity of platformers, which inculudes Jak and Dexter and Sly (the fourth part is expected to be announced soon). Infamous (1 and 2), The last Guardian, Folklore, RPG's like Demon Souls, and Valkryia Chronicles etc etc.

There are shooters as well, like Killzone and Resistence. It's up to you what you want to play, but for shooters alone, you will be wasing your money. But that is just my opinion. Wait for some other people to offer more explanations.

I guess there can't be a better explanation to it than ssah just gave... he might have forgot a few titles like Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy or Gran Turismo as well.

The point is I've heard from a friend that XLive is better than PSN, though you have to pay an online fee of $50 / year....

Also PS3 is a success due to its titles which are exclusives and gamers are associated with them for a long time, so this is why ppl go for PS3 as well.... still I love my PS3

and if I'm not wrong it also has MOH as well...

so its totally up to him... I suggest you take your query in the Playstation Network section as there you might be able to get an insight on the PSN gameplay.

Though I loved playing Tekken 6 and Super Street Fighter4 online

well if you really really really want to play gears and halo online only then you'll have to pay xbla which is 50$ a year
but then there are multiplatform games equally enjoyable like cod mw2 you can play online for free on the ps3
and since developers have started paying more attention to the multiplayer instead of the single player you should probably go for a ps3 if you dont want to pay 50$ per year
plus you'll find ps3 blue rays more easily than original xbox games

Yeah, I think I did forget MGS, FF Versus XIII, and Yakuza series, Little Big Planet even. I guess this will make the decision easier for OP, that PS3 is not about FPS games in general. But if its variety anyone is looking for than you can't look any further than PS3.

As you people mentioned killzone, littlebigplanet and unchartered are awsome, i checked them on youtube and read few article, wow. and call of duty is also available so it is great.
Now please tell me

-- That is totally up to you... a good choice would be a NTSC/U or PAL
2. Slim or fat one?
-- I don't think SONY is selling FAT ones (they're ancient and faulty). GET A SLIM
3. Hard disk capacity?
-- More the better... 160GB is pretty good though, however I doubt you'll find one in Khi. (250 GB is available at SONy's outlet) (320GB is in local stores)
4. New, or used is better?
--It depends on your budget. New is always better, though you sometimes come across good sellers too, if you don't have 33~34K then go for a used one
5. Will i be able to copy the games on hard drive like xbox360?

--You're back to square 1?? Its up to you to decide mate, no one's forcing you to buy a PS3. Alotta users have shared their experience with you.

If you wanna really enjoy these consoles, get a full HD TV (LCD/LED/3DTV) and use the HDMI option to play games... else you won't like it much.

well keep buying mp games like cod for e.g and the exclusives on ps3 and play the rest on xbox360
the argument of which is better psn or xbox live for me psn is now at par with xbox live plus its free cant get any better na

@ Lionheart89 Is the fat one faulty? I have the fat PS3. So far, it has been a smooth ride.

About the questions:

First thing that I would suggest is, go for the first hand model. Don't go for second had stuff. You know how shop keepers are here. They will probably sell off something faulty to you at a higher prize. Go for the first hand one, even if you to go for a lesser space, because you can always change the hard-drive, or so I have been told.

Another exclusive at the back of my head is Heavenly Sword. I know people here who hated this games, but I absolutely loved it.

Well, rent it/borrow it. The graphics, story-line, dialogues, and the cinematics are one of the best I have seen in games. Some people do not like the game play, but I enjoyed it. You have got one sword in three different forms, each with its own set of moves. How can anyone not like that? But then again, that is just my opinion.

and dude my friend DeNitro had the Phat... which YLOed twice

its not like every other PHat will get a YLOD, but the chances of gettings a YLOD in a Phat is higher compared to a SLIM...

plus I haven't heard any1 complaining that their SLIM got a YLOD :|

I have got bravia full hd lcd tv, even i play xbox360 on HDMI connectiviy. PS3 will also sync with lcd and i will also be able to use my tv remote control on ps3, so thats good.
i did some research and found out some major difference between fat and slim ps3.
Fat cell processor is 90nm and consume 380 watt
then fat is improved with time 60nm and 280 watt
and finally slim is shrunk down to 45 nm and 250 watt
It is simple small size so less power consumption and produce so little heat and noise.
where xbox360 also shrunk down its gpu and cpu and over come the deadly rrod.

even the fat one has a 2% chance of getting a YLOD
slim has none
and heavenly swords is an okay game thanks to its framerate issues
i didnt feel like i was slashing when i was slashing
and yes ninja theory(the game dev) is known for the facial expressions in their games
graphics were considered good when it came out
story line is good
but its almost 2011 so its a little too late to play that game now

well I don't mind those issues as the only reason I've bought a PS3 is to revive my gaming passion which I wasn't able to fulfil coz of the PC

which not only requires you to keep upgrading continuously but it also doesn't offer all the titles a console has to offer... so yeah even though Heavenly Swords might not be that amazing, I'll go for it, maybe rent it from SoulHunter only


as for itshammad: Well there are alotta differences that way, the old Phat one came with a Six Axis Controller (no Vibration)

while the new slim comes with a Dual Shock 3 (which has both Six Axis support and Vibration)

differences keep popping up...

btw I forgot to mention the major thing to you. The PS MOVE allows you to point and Shoot, which neither the 360 Controller has or the DS3 controller.... the Move Controller is so far the best for FPS games where you have to point and shoot... its like a Laser Light or a Mouse which doesn't need to be placed on a table.

so you're gonna be owning all those without a PS Move in those FPS games... Believe it or Not
