EVO 2010

EVO is perhaps the biggest fighting game competition held per year. The event has gain much respect among the top fighters in the US, Europe and is starting to wins hearts of some of the top players in Japan as well. Let me take you on a small detour regarding the history about this event.

About Evo

The Evolution Championship Series (Evo for short) represents the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world. Evo events bring together the best of the best from around the world in a dazzling exhibition of skill and fun, as players and fans gather to honor the competitive spirit in an open format and determine a champion. You’ll also find that our tournaments are about more than just winning. Evo events are open to anyone, feature many stations available for relaxed free play, and offer unique opportunities to meet people from different countries and different walks of life who share your passion. Established champions face off against unknown newcomers, and new rivals that might have only talked or fought online meet up and become old friends.
For a taste of some of the competitive energy and fun at our events, check out the now famous Daigo full-parry video from Evolution 2004.

Ok enough hype. How can I watch this event and make it a memorable experience
The vent will be live on Ustream. You can visit the website in order to get the links. Otherwise, I'll update this post and paste the link here. Moreover, you can add me up and the rest of the PG gang on MSN in order to get right into the discussion while watching evo.

Fuck You Deso.
I was going to make an EVO thread. Had the layout in mind.
It was going to have profiles of all the top players, cool videos, and descriptions.

:(
You beat me to the punch. Anyway, great thread. I'm going to be up late in the next few days.

^ Live-streaming has gotten better over the last year; now they're pretty solid. But they do run at like 10fps! So yeah, overall, it might be good to wait for full Youtube uploads. But tournies like Evo ans stuff don't let anyone else film for profit or broadcasting, and even the videos from the last Evos haven't been uploaded on Youtube in good quality. So live-streams might be the best option to catch the action.

Anyway, top picks? There's the Wong-Umehara factor. But I'd like to see how Inthul and Flash Meteroid do; they've taken their characters to a whole new level. Inthul might crash; his game's basic, but Flash could go places.

And of course Marn has a thing or two to prove about Dudley.

OMG Why didn't you say so. If this thread was gonna get better than the BlazzBlue one then I would had stepped back without even thinking for a split second. Anyway, i'll try my level best to keep this thread update.

@Iron: totally agreed with sephii here. Last year's evo streaming was really bad but streaming has imporved over all. I'm quite sure its gonna be MUCH better this time. Also I know you're not gonna miss it for the world. If was you so called me up last time

"ASAD BHAI, kahaan hai app. Idhar evo ho raha hai aur kya zabardast matches cal raha hai". :D

Stream is so shitty at the moment. There's too much lag. The audio is fine but the video is effed. Just as sephi put it.

i didnt see all the matches on the evo stream but watched quiet a few. loved how ed ma beat marn with juri , and i would like to see who beat him and how. that scumbag salty moment was epic. there were a lot of upsets like andy ocr losing to warhawk , guess that proves guile is a bad matchup for him. was really expecting a lot from tokido , but he failed to deliver

Its a Trap!
Big Marcus (Bison) VS Infiltration (Akuma): 0-2
Good play from both. Solid match. Nothing outrageous.

Banana Ken (Ken) VS Vangief (Zangief): 1-2
Awesome match. Was rooting for Gief. He throws you from nowhere lol.

JR Rodriguez (Akuma) VS Mike Ross (Honda): 1-2
What a tense match. JR could've won it. He's a walking time bomb.
Raging demon from any situation.

Hency Cen (Honda) VS Rico Suave (Abel): 2-1
Man Suave's whole game is landing Breathless. That Ultra is so broken.

fl0e (Sagat) VS Ricky Ortiz (Rufus): 0-2
It wasn't pretty. Sagat owned.

Justin Wong (Rufus) VS RB (Guy): WTF Stickam
RB chose Guy, pressured Wong to 70% life, and the stream died. It was down for 10 minutes, and when it came back, it was Lamerboi vs Daigo. I think Wong won this one.

Lamerboi (Guile) VS Daigo (Ryu): 0-2
Lamerboi is so likeable. He gave Daigo a run for his money but he made so many stupid mistakes. :( Match 2 was great.

Juicebox Abel (Abel) VS Wolfkrone (Viper): 2-0
I like both these players. But you gotta love Juicebox, both in matches and out.

ILUJoe (Sagat/Ryu) VS FYC Ryder (Abel): 0-2
Pure destruction. Ryder's mixups and combos were beautiful. What a commanding performance. So many good Abels now.

Arturo Sanchez (Dhalsim) VS Warahk (Guile): 2-1
Warahk didn't do too bad for someone who ragequit against Buktooth. But he ain't no Sabin. The last half was just Sonic Boom...Sonic Boom...Sonic Boom...

Tatsu (Vega) VS On-Line-To-Ny (Seth): 1-2
Man, Tatsu is so androgynous. Anyway, Tony had stick problems in match 1, exchanged sticks, destroyed Tatsu in Match 2, then got mindfucked in Match 3.

Shizza (Chun) VS Valle (Ryu): 2-1
FUCK YEAH! Good for you Shizza. Good for you. One of the best matches of the night. Some amazing Pad players this time.

Dr. Chaos (Ken) VS Neo (Chun/Juri): 2-1
Ken wins match 1. Juri comes in Match 2 and makes things interesting. One of the best endings ever in round 1 then a perfect in round 2. But Ken takes it again in Match 3.

Hugo101(Bison) VS Tokido (Honda): 1-2
Tokido picks Honda for god knows what reason. Gets beat. Picks Akuma and gives Hugo the beating of his life. 3 almost-perfects in a row.

GamerBee (Adon) vs Eita (Akuma): 2-0
Lack of matchup knowledge destroys Eita. Low Tier represent!

Lamerboi (Guile) vs FYC Ryder (Abel): 2-0
Lamerboi is alive. :)
Ryder never picks UII. He must be kicking himself for picking Breathless this time because he couldn't land it once.

Infiltration (Akuma) VS Banana Ken (Ken): 2-1
Too bad. The quest for the hat is over. Dr. Chaos gets it.

Juicebox (Abel) VS fl0e (Rufus): 0-2

Tatsu (Vega) VS Neo (Juri): 1-2
One of the best, most exciting matches of the night. The end of the second match was so bloody awesome. Neo became the hero.

GamerBee (Adon) VS JR Rodriguez (Akuma): 2-0
Gamerbee is my man. Adominated.

John Choi (Ryu) VS Sanford Kelly (C. Viper): 0-2
Choi Boy. :( Sanford's Viper is pretty collected, focusing more on Feints than mad rushdown like Marn's.

Arturo (Dhalsim) VS Valle (Ryu): 0-2
Wtf Alex? He ate 3 b+RH in a row. And with that Calipower is out.

Tokido (Akuma) VS Rico Suave (Abel): 2-1
Rico's mistakes really cost him the win. Amazing play by both guys. Again, one of the better matches of the night. Tokido's option select demons are awesome. He's earned another fan.

RB (Rufus) VS Sanford (Viper): 2-0 (WTF?)
WTF? Weirdest match. Sanford loses 1 round in match 1, pauses in round 2 because his buttons weren't set. Round is given to RB. In match 2, Sanford loses round 1, then RB stops moving in Round 2, and the judges are called again. It seems the players didn't know what the score was. After clarification, Sanford loses the round and is eliminated. Worst match yet.

Neo (Juri) VS GamerBee (Adon): 0-2
Juri had no, NO breathing space. Jaguar destruction! The crowd is on Adon's side. I'm lovin' it.

Arturo (Dhalsim) VS Lamerboi (Guile): 2-1
YEAAAH! The underdog takes it. Arturo is eliminated. I love LamerBoi's resilience. Gotta love the guy's attitude. The crowd loves it. Another awesome match.

fl0e (Rufus) VS Tokido (Akuma): 2-1
Tokido picked U2 for this one. Didn't get a chance to see it though. Fl0e perfects Tokido in match 3.

RB (Rufus) VS Infiltrarion (Akuma): 0-2
Same characters as last match, but the outcome is different. Infiltration shows us what Ultra II is for.

Mike Ross (E. Honda) VS Dr. Chaos (Ken): 2-1
Who is this Dr. Chaos? Dude is mad skilled. Took it to Mike Ross.
Final round was super clutch. Heart stopper. THIS is the best match yet.

Ricky Ortiz (Rufus) VS Henry Cen (Honda): 2-0
It was merciless by Ricky. Ricky Ortiz is in Top 8 now.
Hard to decide who's Rufus is best. Wong or Ricky Ortiz?

Justin Wong (Rufus) VS Vangief (Zangief): 1-2
FUCK THAT SHIT! THIS is the best match of the night. Vangief - the pad Zangief, makes Justin Wong sweat like a motherfucker. The match was down to the wire and puts Justin Wong in losers. Did you just read that?
Vangief put Justin in Losers

Shizza (Chun) VS Daigo (Ryu): 2-0
Shizza's good luck ends as he's put in losers. Daigo makes it easily into top 8.

Henry Cen (Dhalsim) VS LamerBoi (Guile): 2-0
You fought a good fight LamerBoi. Rest, soldier.

Infiltration (Akuma) VS Dr. Chaos (Ken): 2-0
Nothing to say. Dr. Chaos didn't get his chance for mixups.
Congrats on the cowboy hat though.

Shizza (Chun) VS fl0e (Rufus): 2-0
Commanding performance by Shizza. He kicked ass. Im glad he is in Top 8.
He deserves it. Also, the less Rufus in top 8 the better.

Justin Wong (Rufus) VS GamerBee (Adon): 1-2
FUCK ME. THE. BEST. MATCH. OF. THE. NIGHT.
My heart was not in my chest. It was in my throat. My god. I was praying for GamerBee to win. AND HE FUCKING DID.
JUSTIN WONG IS OUT.
I went to Shoryuken.com to check the Adon forums. Zangief had 150+ after Vangief beat Justin, so Adon should have more. Well, Shoryuken.com crashed after the Adon match. Look forward to lots of new Adons online.

No Marn. No Justin. No Sanford. BEST. EVO. EVER.

Its a Trap!
yar the night of my life
Mine too.
Haven't been this excited in a while.
But WTF was with Justin's random Ultra 2's in match 1? Even Sunny_Saad doesn't random like that.

Also, the matches aren't finished.

This is the 'Salty Stream'. It will have high level money matches like Arturo VS Daigo, Team battles, etc.
