Hey people.. i have always wanted to learn playing the guitar, but as i live in flats where noise is an issue i never got the acoustic one.. but i just thought up if i get a cheap electric guitar and hook it up to my pc, i would be able to hear the output from the headphones right??

Now 3 questions:

1. Will the method above work?
2. How cheap an electric guitar can i get if i dont get the amp and stuff?
3. From where i can get it in khi?

all I can say is that it works .. you need a copy of guitar rig and asio 4 all and you need a converter thingy.. hook it up to your pc and you are done :D

^ I've got Amplitube 3, which the reviews state is much better than Guitar Rig 4. And I myself have to agree, the clean tones and exceptional, although the really high gain tones get a little wonky sometimes.

But I got it legally, so I paid a lot of money for it. I also got the Stealth Pedal USB interface device with it. If you want to run either programs, you need the corresponding USB device with it.

I've been meaning to sell my Korg Pandora PX4. I think it would be perfect for you. It's got a headphone out, so you can play without anyone hearing a thing; perfect for those post-midnight jamming sessions! Plus it has a ton of built in drum loops and stuff. Plus, you can record loops over the drum loops and then solo over them.

It's a perfect learning tool; and I gotta say that I improved a whole deal since I got my first Pandora. This one is my second one, I got it about 6 months back but haven't used it a whole lot.

^ maybe someone in Karachi can help you. There are a bunch of shops there.

You can technically get a guitar and use the computer, although you'll have to ask Speedyz how he actually connected it to his computer. You could use your soundcard, and a standard 1/8 cable with a 1/4 switch for the guitar.

But I'd suggest you save up a little more and get a "decent" guitar than get a "cheap" one if you have to. Money doesn't always buy quality, and some cost-effective guitars can be amazing, but still, if you get a guitar that doesn't play well or sounds well, it could really dissuade you from learning the guitar altogether.
