Drone Fly Away

Yesterday was really a bad day for me.

I was test flying my drone which I have bought on my company's behalf and I usually fly over our premises. I do not know what happened yesterday but what happened is that It flew 711m away from me I tried controlling it but it wasn't stopping and it faded away from my sight.

I was devastated because there seemed no way that we would be able to recover it. Then Me and my colleagues went out to search and we searched the probable locations for about 3 hours asking ppl and checking roofs of buildings and bungalows.

Being a newbie I did not know the ways to recover it in such a case plus the amount of stress I was in I couldn't think much sensibly. Anyways, I then checked the fly log and was able to find out the last location of my drone and the home point it selected. The Mfking home point it selected was 711m away from where I was flying I do not know why it did it. Usually I check the home point when I fly it and it says in the manual that home point is automatically updated when it launches and it usually is the location from where it is taking off.

We did try return to home option yesterday but I immediately canceled it but then after a while It just went outta control I could not do anything and It went so fast towards its 711m wrong home point.

After Hours of searching someone from one house came and asked are you trying to find something I said FUCK YES A DRONE WHITE IN COLOR. Finally this guy handed me the drone and I was amazed to see that It was scratch-less . They told me that It landed in front of their house and they took it in assuming that someone would come looking for it.

But Now I am so shaky to fly it again... The way it went outta control ... The Fever ... The rage ... The feeling of powerlessness...

Phantom 3 Standard user.

I am no expert at this but seems to be issue with the transmitter. Place the drone at some distance (without flying) and test the controls if it responds correctly or misbehave.

This reminds me of a not so funny incident that happened on my 10th birthday.

A friend of mine got me a remote controlled helicopter as a birthday present.

Opened it that same evening, charged it up, went outside to the garden and tried to lift it off the ground slightly, being an absolute oaf and not reading the instructions, it was barely moving, so I smashed the throttle button and it flew high enough for the remote control to lose signal with the helicopter, so it stopped responding to any buttons I pressed on the controller and flew away for god knows how long, probably got pretty far since it had a full charge and was jammed at full throttle.

Not going to lie, some tears were shed that day. :/

I'd prepared myself for a sad ending where some bad Pakis steal your drone but thank goodness you got it back safe and sound. I was cringing just reading your story, can imagine what you must've went through.

Well I got a notification from DJI GO app that there was an issue with the app's version which was messing up the home point setting and because of which unexpected operation can occur.

Their fucking error almost made me lose my drone. Just imagine a drone flew away from a roof and it went so far that I couldnt even see it. I searched an area of radius 700m. street after street. house after house. building after building. The area is johar ...the freakiest populated place of karachi. So fucking unreliable.

This is why, i've ordered a Micro drone from aliexpress to get hold over these things before jumping to huge price tag drones, it will come next week hopefully, Search "JJRC H36" on youtube, its pretty much fun to fly, though you are so lucky brother.

DAMN, it is sad and funny at the same time. Good to know you recovered it but I am actually impressed how advance that thing is, first time reading about it. How does it update its location? Is it a gps, gsm or what?

Lol, I had the same thing when my first DJI Phantom flew away in the Indian ocean when one of my friend took it as a test flight. GPS was lost and the Phantom was hovering over the ocean and it crashed. Brother, that shout at my friend was priceless, I lost that 800+$ item right infront of me. Shit happens when the day isn't favoring you.

there is a huge different between branded stuff and copies ( good quality ). X6 tarantulla is the best when it comes to precision drone and Hovering + speed.

Its Phantom 3. Everything was up to date. IT really wasnt my fault because the app itself notified that there was a problem in app which was messing up homepoint location.

And It really was not funny for me :D I was pretty stressed out but a million thanks to Allah that I was able to recover it.

This makes me never to want to use that Return to home feature. And yeah I must say that still the thing was able to locate itself at least that bit is really reliable.

I am going to be very careful now and scared too.

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
