Hey Guys,
I'm looking to a buy a beginner Digital SLR Camera. Following are my requirements:

-Mostly landscapes/travel photography
-Occasional Portraits
-Macro Photography too
-No Canon Please, I've always loved Nikon

Now in my budget I can either get a D5300 with Kit Lens and buy lens a year later or go with D3300 with 18-105 and 50mm prime lens. What would you recommend?

Always go with the best body you can afford

Hands down d5300, as you have mentioned you are a beginner, difference lens will not matter now.get d5300 with kit lens, play with it, once you feel you have outgrown it but a prime or tele

Thank you for your reply. This is what I was planning, hopefully I'll be able to buy D5300.

How's your experience with mirrorless? Could you explain all that to me?

and for now I think I'll get a D3300 and save money for better lenses. Once I get them, I'll sell D3300 and then get a better body.

Well I also bought the Mirror Less camera! In the start I mean 1st week! i was very disappointed with the results! its Nikon 1J2 with 10-30mm Kit lens, Thn I start looking deeper, I played with setting to get the good results, Well the mirrorless cameras are very good! can do almost most of the things which a Beginner lvl DSLR can do. But in my research which I really dont like is the price of Mirrorless cameras, If you want to get a mid lvl Mirrorless camera the price is more thn a Beginner lvl SLR, and a very good MRless camera cost right next to a Mid Lvl DSLR. After buying the Mirrorless, My next camera will be a DRSL. :)

After using the kit less which I really like, its 10-30mm but in reality its not 10-30 :p its 30-80mm approx. I tried a manual focus less with adapter which I found cheaper thn other lens, and It produce really good results.

For lenses you have to understand the body first! Prime of tele thy have different uses. I have a prime, and my second Prime lens is on the way home :p I really like Prime lenses cux of IQ. but and It depends I am using cheap way of learning photography, I cant afford the lenses which are made of my camera! thy are very expsv. But using Manual focus lenses have a bright side! I am using my camera in fully manual mode! So it helps you to learn quickly about the basics of photography.

You need an Adapter for Manual Lenses, Nikon and Canon lenses have different mounts.
For example. I have Nikon 1J2 its Crop Factor is 2.7x, and Im using Helios 44m 58mm Lens on it Which is M42 mount (Adapter). so 58x2.7= 156.6mm Focal length I am getting at. The Kit lens with Nikon 1J2 is 10-30mm, If you thinking like a full frame camera 35mm. 10-30mm is ultra wide angle! fish eye. But the Kit lens is not Fish eye. At 10mmx2.7= 27mm and 30mmx2.7=81mm. this is how its working. so now if you are using Helios 44m 58mm lens on EPL5 it will be 58mmx2=116mm focal length.

But be aware you! the Adapters are Dumb, no electronic contacts in it. So you need to control Focus, Aperture, and ISO speed Manually. In other words, You need to spend some time before taking every shot.

There is an Adapter made from Russian its not yet on Ebay, with AF-Exposure control chip! the review of that Chip is very good. and its multi mount adapter. for Minolta MD, Nikon FL,FD,nFD, Nikon F, Pentax K, Olympus OM, M42 and some other mounts supported by the lens. you can find it by Gfotostore. I will buy it later :)
