Custom duty on cosmetics when importing through DHL express

So, like the topic says, some friends have pooled in to take advantage of a sale on a cosmetic store in Europe that ships internationally. The shipment will be through DHL express. As far as I'm aware, DHL takes care of all the duties and other taxes etc and delivers to your doorstep, and you then refund them whatever they paid.

But does anyone have an idea of what the total added expenditure on imported cosmetics is? Afaik, customs duty is 20%, and sales tax is 7%, but there seems to be a bunch of other stuff, so I'm unable to get a reasonably accurate idea. Any help will be appreciated!

These days it will cost you almost 100mpercent of price the tax .so if for example the cosmetics cost 10,000 rupees you will pay 10,000 rupees additional tax on it .

dhl fedex private couriers will charge hevy duty, try importing via local post office u will save on duty etc maybe not even being applied but if its bulk they will put on tax

[MENTION=138654]Fluorescent[/MENTION] I was in the same boat, in Oct 2018. I imported cosmetics from the US. Declared value was around $50 (The forwarder was very co-operative in this regard). However, I was still charged a whopping Rs.5000 on the total shipment. I wonder had I not declared the value then what would've happened.

Furthermore, avoid DHL express at all costs. 90% of the time, they are infamous for excessive customs.

[MENTION=14725]assasin42o[/MENTION] yes customs do apply at local post office to but their format is a bit different. the ones who charge customs at dhl fed ex etc are quite high and they charge on each and every item 100percent but at local post office some custom officials are lenient and they let many things go. for example my sister did import cosmetics etc last month and it came in a big box too she said it was coming via dhl express aswell but the final delivery was via local post office and HERE IS THE KICK NO tax was applied. not even the small 60rs or some repacking charge they take, the postman came and just gave it as is....

Sirif Afghanion ko nai, is mulk k un karoron government employees ko palna bhi private sector ki zimadari hogai hay, janat hi milni hay is kam k liay to.

Well get back on topic, it depend on store, if store have decent supply chain and they have updated data of product restriction and product duties and taxes then they will charge you exact amount if not then even with DHL there will be issues, but it also depends if there is change in policy before your product arrived at bay.
