Carrying internal hard drive on flight

I am travelling to Scotland.
It is needed to take my data with me in a 1 TB internal SATA2 hard drive. I will travelling on Etihad Airways.
Will carrying hard disk in hand carry cause problem?

Need advice.

I should carry har disk in checked luggage or hand carry? Do they check data? What if I have pirated stuff?

Take it in hand luggage.
IIRC, they don't check data.
