Salam Guys,

Whats up? I have a laptop with 120GB ssd installed, recently I am starting to feel that I need much more space. When I bought the Laptop I had a good PC with 1TB Hdd which now, does not exist.

So I am thinking to buy 2TB External Hdd (Seagate or Western Digital) with USB 3.0. Do you guys think buying an external hdd is worth the money being invested in it?

One of my friend bought it, it did not last long. That really scares me, I dont wanna invest 8k to 10k in a product that will not last more than a year or two.

Mostly, I will use it on my home desk, I will save data like HD movies, songs, DSLR pictures, gameplay videos and mobile videos. But, I will also keep it while travelling out of city which I do almost twice a month.

So, anyone with experience ? Please help by a suggestion.

Regards

External HDD are really helpful but it needs to be connected with USB which sucks and the cable often breaks , tho i have been using my seagate 500Gb since a year and haven't faced any issues yet except for USB Cable :)

Instead of getting an external hdd. Buy a normal one with a hdd caddy. Install you're os on ssd and use the hdd for normal. This kind of a setup would be cheaper than buying an external hdd

External hard drives are less reliable, especially when it comes to long run important data storage. I currently have ADATA External 1TB Hard drive, which I bought just a couple of months ago, is dying with only 9% health remaining. So, if you go with external hard drive then consider Western Digital brand only as it has much better reliability rate.

On my research, external hard drives are not as reliable as internal ones.

Damn ! I just bought it. How do you check the health of the drive ?

I was kinda in a hurry and the replies came a bit late bro :)

Seagate has more failure rate, but, nonetheless, a fine choice.
I hope it will serve you for long run. Just keep the health in check.

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
