H370 should be fine. As for the RAM, dual or quad channel memory only really benefits in certain situations, but this is mostly concerned with Ryzen as Ryzen can take better advantage due to it's architecture. A single stick of 8gb is what I'd go for here, in-case you might want to upgrade your memory later on.

HDD: WD blues are the common, all purpose ones, cheap and useful enough for the regular user. Black is slightly more expensive, offers a bit better performance in exchange for noise/heat. Purple/Red are mostly meant to be reliable, for server use or surveillance purposes. More expensive, definitely not worth it. You have a choice between new Seagate Barracudas or WD Blues. That's what I'd choose from. This goes without saying, but don't buy used.

SSD: Buy the cheapest one you can get, but from a reliable brand. Kingston, Samsung, Adata etc. There's Transcend but I don't know much about their reliability, and there's no mainstream reviews of them. Stay away if possible.

PSU: Buy a reliable brand, again. Corsair, coolermaster, thermaltake are pretty good. You don't need expensive, fully modular ones. Just check for a good efficiency rating (80+ Bronze certified at the very least). Here's a wattage calculator if you need it, though I'm pretty sure if you purchase from a store you can just ask them how much juice you need for your build: Cooler Master: Power Supply Calculator

GPU: As for the graphics card, it really depends on what games you're playing/mean to play.

>Budget options:
GTX 1050 (~15k)
GTX 960 (~20k)
GTX 1050 Ti (~25k)

>Mid-range options:
GTX 1060 3G (~30k)
GTX 1060 6G (~35k)

You might also want to look out for deals for GTX 970, 780 Ti, 780 or 770. You can look up their performance on benchmarks.
If you want to discuss something let me know.

thank you so much for the detailed reply.
which budget gpu do u think can play all games without issue and its current price though i'll skip this for now but want to know how much is it going to cost me
As for psu, i got a quote today he said u dont need psu until u get a new gpu so current one would be just fine.

I asked him price for H370 but he forgot maybe and quoted me 18k for Gigabyte Z370
Please suggest if I should go for B360/H370 or Z370 and of Asus or Gigabyte, he said price would be almost similar.

Seagate 2tb 8k or WD blue 2tb 8.3k?
for me newer wd got slower and seagate still working Alhumdolillah but would like to know about the newer ones.

Kingston SSD 256gb is for 7.2k, I wont be installing the windows right now so should I get the ssd anyways? as it would be of more use when ill install windows in it, btw method of win installation is same with ssd right like normal hdd?

I have already decided on i5 8400 but want to know if its enough for multi tasking and for lightroom/photoshop usage, pics mostly, video maybe.
I may or may not go for gaming as I dont really get time for it and havent played any even if I installed any these past few years but bandy ka dil kr hi sakta hai kabi.
So keeping in mind my above requirement I'd like to know about the processor and the motherboard. I wont go lower than 8400 as I wont be upgrading any time soon, already I got this pc back in 2010 and upgrading now at end of 18

Please also suggest something for anti surge/loadshedding protection, person at shop said u can use power cable with fuse for that.

GPU: 1050 Ti would probably be good enough for you. Here's a review of it: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti review | PC Gamer
It's good enough for most esports titles (CSGO, DOTA 2, Fortnite) and can play others at low to medium (PUBG, RS:S). A better option might be GTX 970, as it outperforms the GTX 1050 Ti. You can check out the site's own marketplace, there's a lot of used graphics cards going for cheap here. Remember to always search up prices and don't overpay: https://www.pakgamers.com/forums/f64/

Motherboard: The guy is bullshitting you. Z370 boards are overclocking boards that are unneeded when you have a non-K chip. H370/B360 boards are cheaper, and should always be. H370 should be at a 12k-13k range. B360 is too barebones for you, so H370 is the go-to here.

HDD/SSD: Go for the Seagate one. There's honestly little performance difference here, so go for the cheaper option. I will definitely suggest an SSD, even if it's 128 GB because it really does make a difference when loading your OS. Windows 10 is really taxing on an HDD. In my personal experience, Windows services like Superfetch keep my HDD running at 100% for 5-10 mins after boot so that they can cache some stuff in RAM. This has essentially killed my hard drive's health. So yes, SSD for boot drive, always.

CPU: 8400 is definitely enough for your uses, no worries here. Just remember to keep it cool.

I don't know much about power surge protection, afaik good power supplies have it built in them. Definitely get others' advice on this as I can't really say.

Gigabyte 1050 ti is what that shop guy also suggested for 29.5k, how much does 970 costs?
Is it a good idea to get a used gpu? I dont even know what to check n if it will work fine or not, also how to check market of a used item to avoid paying more?

How much difference is there between Z370 and H370? I guess I'll go for H370 as B360 may cause problems if I ever want to add something, it may not have enough free slots, btw H370 is for 15.5 on galaxy and B360 for 13.5k. I guess I'll go for Gigabyte motherboard or should I go for Asus?

I guess I'll get the SSD then 256gb and install programs as well on the SSD, does the windows install the same way on SSD as it does on Hdd?

I asked him if psu has built in protection, he said there is no protection in psu, it passes all the current that it gets
My current setup has I think one fan, should I add any fans, if so how many? The casing is quite big, I dont remember the model, I'll share its pic.

So Final setup
8400+H370 (Asus/Gigabyte, not sure)+8gb Kingston ram( i guess he quoted for kingston)+2 Tb Seagate+ 256gb Kingston SSD with old gtx 460 and cooler master 500 or 600 psu

Thanks again.

Nice. Used graphics cards are fairly reliable, if they haven't been BIOS modded to aid in mining or anything. 1050 Ti for 29.5K is unreasonable. Look on olx and you'll find new for 25k.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
