Best TV Show Pilots

A pilot is usually what makes a person want to see a show. If the pilot sucks, there is little chance anybody is gonna want to watch the show. Ofcourse, exceptions are there, but this is the general rule.

What are your favorite Pilots?

Drama:

5. Breaking Bad
Walter tapes a message into the camera. And we get to know how he got there.

4. The Wire
The setting up of the war, the introduction of the characters, everything. Right from the opening scene to the final one. Great opener.

3. The Sopranos
Tony talks about ducks.

2. Friday Night Lights
One word: Whoa! Anybody who sees this pilot will have his jaw dropped. It's seriously that good.

1. LOST
Never have a pilot posed so many questions. Finest 80 minutes on television the night it aired. True story.

1. Lost: simply epic opening and was directed by the great JJ Abrams!!!!
2. Smallville: Meteor crash, Kal-El's arrival, Lex's intro ... ooooh yeah, all in one opening episode!
3. The Walking Dead: In the frist 10 minutes ... The lead protagonists shoots a 12 year old girl in the head ... this is happening on a TV Series, it does not even happen in the movies ... sickly epic!
4. The Big Bang Theory: the opening scene of Sheldon and Lenard's sperm donation stunt .... nothing was ever the same again!
5. The Dollhouse: Eliza Dushku on a bike and then on a dance floor ... haabaa haabaa~!!!

The Walking dead. Amazing pilot. Very well executed.

Persons Unknown. Weirdly amusing. Lost meets X files sort of premise.

LOST. Never has any show come close to being this awesome with their pilot.

The Sopranos. 10 minutes into the pilot you start to get a creepy feeling about Tony.

Firefly had a great first episode, but I dunno if it was that awesome. I am a much bigger fan of Out of Gas. That episode was truly genius.

Can't disagree with that, the pilot was and still is the best piece of television i have ever seen. Nothing compares to it maybe Game of thrones finale could top it but i doubt that. Other than that Battlestar Galactica had an awesome pilot/miniseries as well.

house: epic first episode
breaking bad: it was awesome...

LOST. The most exciting episode ever. Really left you wanting more.
Heroes. For me it was pretty exciting, but it was loooong time ago.
Game of Thrones. Not as spectacular as LOST, but still got my intrest.
