Berserk new Anime series to air in 2016!!!

I am surprised nobody posted yet. Berserk is going to get a new anime series and its the black swordsman arc. Bad news for manga readers... the manga is going on a hiatus. It will continue in next summer.

"The first 2016 issue of Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine (cover shown right) is announcing on Friday that a new anime adaptation project of Kentarou Miura's Berserk manga has been green-lit. NBC Universal will unveil the anime's first promotional video at its winter Comiket booth, which will run from December 29-31. The announcement did not note the format of the anime (TV, film, OAV, etc.).

Miura comments in the magazine that the anime project will depict Guts in his "Black Swordsman" appearance, which is only revealed in parts of the manga that go beyond any previously animated Berserk story, and is only briefly hinted at in the first and last episode of the 1997 television anime series.

In addition, Miura will put his Berserk manga on hiatus, with the next chapter coming in "around" summer next year. The manga will also then be published as an irregular series."

you shouldn't wait for the series to come out. That was one awesome anime even though it was just a small part of the manga but it was amazingly well done plus the ost <3 I knew the anime wasn't complete and i had prepared my heart when i watched it but i got heartbroken anyway

Hopefully it isn't filled with the shitty CGI like the movies, I hope this actually covers a wide portion of the manga because we have 20+ years of manga to cover.

Like Arko said the manga is very big so they just showed a small portion of that... They did end it somewhat right. I just wanted to see what happened next.
In simple words you can say they showed Sasuke leaving the village and Naruto saying i'll bring him back but not showed what happened afterwards something like that but with a lot more weight xD

It's incomplete in the sense that it stops before the main story picks up, the anime and the movies (they both cover the same story bit), they're basically a prequel to how Guts becomes the "Black Swordsman".

and no it's not a small part of the manga, the Golden Age Arc is like 13 volumes long.

It's incomplete in the sense that it stops before the main story picks up, the anime and the movies (they both cover the same story bit), they're basically a prequel to how Guts becomes the "Black Swordsman". and no it's not a small part of the manga, the Golden Age Arc is like 13 volumes long.

The anime misses a few things here and there and the movies just gloss over huge portions of the story altogether, that's why I prefer reading the manga, I know I'll get the whole picture and not some diluted mess.

Mostly because the restricted runtimes leave more to be desired.

In any case, I'm not trying to favor one medium over the other. I just wanted to know if there was any difference since I'd have to read the manga anyway to advance further into the plot.

Nah i was just curious. On that matter manga is almost always more detailed i guess. But i'd say watch the previous series anyway just for the fun of it. Animated Guts is cool

Holy fuck! This coming off the week OPM ends gives me something to look forward to. But I am really skeptical on how good this is actually going to be. I'm just afraid that they're gonna censor all the great plot points in the anime due to extreme gore and violence. It happened to both the movies and the old show, even though they left a lot in, they took a lot out as well.

I'm especially worried about the Lost Children arc that happens immediately after Golden Age arc. Some of the most Berserk moments happen there and it's one of the best arcs in the entire series. I'll take what I can get when it comes to Berserk, but I hope they don't butcher it like the old show. Wyald didn't deserve to be cut twice.

If they end up getting back Marc Diraison for the English dub then I might just hold off the sub for it. After hearing Guts talk during the Bonfire of Dreams episode in the old show, I just can't accept any other voice as Guts. You need to have a specific kind voice to be able to pull off Guts, and Marc's voice hits the nail on the head.

Both the old show and the three movies cover the same parts of the manga. The movie goes further but only a bit and doesn't have as much overall plot. The show has more plot, a better OST, but the animation is sort of aged. I still prefer the show over the movies though, just 'cause of its OST. Watch both.

By your logic, every action manga must be unreadable 'cause it's not an animation. Berserk is an action manga as well as an adventure one. Miura's ability to depict action is pretty great even in still frames. The rest is filled out with your imagination.

On the topic of Miura and the manga hiatus. I hope you get cancer and AIDS for Christmas, Miura. Happy new year, c*nt.
