[h=1]Ben Affleck Offers His Batman V Superman Thoughts[/h]

Despite recently hitting pay dirt with Suicide Squad, critical acclaim continues to elude Warner Bros. Pictures’ DC Extended Universe, perhaps most notably Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Despite featuring two of the most iconic and popular comic book characters in history together on the big screen for the first time, the movie was met with a polarizing mixed-to-negative response. Shortly after the movie’s release, a video of Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman) being informed of the early negative reviews for Batman V Superman rapidly went viral, with the actor looking visibly dejected at the news.
Affleck clearly has plenty invested in the DCEU; not only has he taken over the Batman role after the hugely successful Dark Knight trilogy, but he also holds an executive producer position on the forthcoming Justice League movie and is confirmed to be directing the upcoming solo Batman film. Now, after a long period of presumed reflection and contemplation, Affleck has been given another chance to speak his mind on Batman V Superman, without the pressure of having to market the film itself.
In an interview with Fox 5 DC whilst on promotional duties for new project, The Accountant, the actor was asked exactly what he thought of the Batman V Superman: Dawn if Justice. The actor offered the following answer, before simply adding that he “loved” the movie:

“It’s interesting: It was a huge hit movie — more people went to see that than any movie I’ve made in my career. It was the biggest hit of my career and then it had so much editorial negativity. Fans went, and I got a lot of positive response. It was interesting, that movie, because it was judged not necessarily on execution so much as on its tone. People seemed to want to have a lighter tone to the movie, and I thought that was interesting. Tone is not a qualitative thing. It’s subjective, right? Some tones resonate with me that might not with you. And the tone of the movie was really parallel to the Frank Miller book [The Dark Knight Returns], which I liked and thought was great. I’m glad that so many people went and so many people liked the movie.”

Naturally, fans are unlikely to get a completely honest account of the actor’s feelings towards Batman V Superman until after he hangs up the cape and cowl but it’s a positive sign that Affleck isn’t ignoring the calls for a less intense and brooding tone. These comments could fuel hopes that both Justice League and the next Batman venture won’t take themselves quite as seriously.
On the other hand, Affleck’s response does seem to infer that he believes most of the Batman V Superman criticism emanated from the media, rather than the fans. And whilst audiences were certainly kinder to the film than the critics, there were plenty of Batman fans, comic geeks and general movie-goers that felt the film fell considerably short of expectations.

[h=1]DC Pays Comic Creator More Than Marvel Films Combined[/h]

DC and Marvel have always taken different approaches to how they handle comics. As both companies work to craft film and television universes based off of their characters and stories, it’s no surprise that the same holds true on the screen. While Marvel was the first to introduce the idea of a shared cinematic universe, DC and Warner Bros have followed suit in the past few years in an effort to create their roster of Justice Leaguers. So far, the results have produced Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad, with Wonder Woman and Justice League coming later this year and Aquaman arriving in 2018.
The success of their next three films will likely decide whether plans for The Flash, Cyborg, SHAZAM!, Black Adam, and Green Lantern Corps move forward, but many of those movies are probably safe. All three DCEU movies to date have been hits at the box office and garnered their own dedicated fans, even though critics have remained unimpressed. Still, DC hasn’t been able to touch Marvel with regard to fan acclaim, who’s been making Disney very happy they purchased the company. Despite the fact that Marvel regularly scores higher at the box office, it looks like the distinguished competition are more generous with their earnings.
Comic legend Jim Starlin took to his Facebook today to let fans know that DC had just given him a sizable payout due to his character KGBeast being featured in Batman V Superman.

Though he’s not referred to as KGBeast in the movie, Callan Mulvey plays Anatoli Knyazev in the film. His role is fairly sizable, as he’s the main henchman Lex Luthor employs. Though he meets a fiery end, his inclusion and screentime added up to what seems to be a large payday for Starlin. Though we don’t know the exact amount, it’s interesting to hear that it tops what the creator has received from Marvel due to his work.
Starlin is responsible for the creation of not only Thanos, but Gamora and Drax. As such, it would seem he’d be entitled to an even larger payout from Marvel given the combined screen time and success of those characters. In fact, all three characters’ exposure on the big screen has been followed by lots of new comics and merchandise from Marvel, as they’ve all benefited from an expanded profile. It’s disappointing to hear that Marvel doesn’t seem to pay creators as well as DC, and this information will likely only serve to further divide fans of both publishers. Still, without any concrete numbers, it’s hard to make a full assessment.
We’ll bring you any more news that emerges regarding the subject, so stay tuned.

[h=1]Jay Baruchel Calls Batman V Superman ‘Most Expensive Indie Film’[/h]

Director Zack Snyder’s 2013 Superman movie franchise reboot Man of Steel was the starting point of the DC Extended Universe, but it was last year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (also directed by Snyder) that truly opened the floodgates to the larger DCEU. Snyder will return to the DCEU for a third time later this year with his Justice League movie in the fall, after Patty Jenkins releases her Wonder Woman film – headlined by Batman V Superman‘s Gal Gadot – this June.
While Batman V Superman proved to be a box office success worldwide, it received mostly negative reviews from critics and has proven quite divisive within the larger comic book superhero movie-loving community. Various people have since come out both in favor of and against Snyder’s Caped Crusader/Man of Steel blockbuster – and as it turns out, actor/director Jay Baruchel now officially falls into the former of those groups.
During a recent interview with JoBlo, Baruchel came out in support of both the theatrical cut, but especially the Batman V Superman “Ultimate Edition” (aka. Snyder’s preferred, extended, R-Rated cut of the film). Baruchel said that Batman V Superman is “Probably the film I’ve seen the most from last year,” adding that he prefers it to the more positively-reviewed Captain America: Civil War:
“THANK YOU! This is what I said, even when I saw the theatrical one and didn’t love it. In its weakest moment, it has more choice, style and commitment to it than the best moment in CIVIL WAR. CIVIL WAR, I can’t tell you what it’s about or who made it. You watch BATMAN V SUPERMAN you know exactly what it’s about and he fucking committed to a choice and DC always does that… I think history’s going to regard [BATMAN V SUPERMAN] as the world’s most expensive indie film.”

Baruchel is perhaps best known as the voice of Hiccup in the How To Train Your Dragon movies. He has also costarred in such hit comedies as This is the End and is currently promoting the ongoing run of his FXX sitcom, Man Seeking Woman. The actor also made the jump to directing feature-length films with his work on the upcoming sports comedy sequel Goon: Last of the Enforcers (which Baruchel also co-wrote and costars in).
With Warner Bros. Pictures/DC taking steps to ensure that Wonder Woman and Justice League are better-received than their predecessors in the DCEU, it will be interesting to see whether history sides (or doesn’t) with Baruchel on Batman V Superman‘s place in the large DC movie universe, in the end. As for the DCEU’s Batman and Superman (played by Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, respectively), both will be returning in Justice League this year – before getting their own new solo movies, in The Batman and Man of Steel 2, sometime thereafter.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
