that poor kid own ipad 4 and runs cartoon the time he wakes up till he is sleep. i have 8MB connection. most of the time i dont bothers me. but when i playing online game ping gets too high and it was the only solution.

Strange no one has mention this but the solution is quite simple.

Download Netcut. Whenever he/she/they/it is making your internet experience worse, simply cut off his internet. He will be getting "wifi" signals but internet won't work. When he complains tell him "bhai signal to araha hy, device ka issue hy, format kerdo apni device".

Once you are done with online gaming/downloading, resume his internet.

Can you suggest me some more, i want to buy some good router for once, should have more wifi range as i am connected through a wifi extender which isnt good for gaming purpose as i cant connect my ps4 to ethernet.

i had same issue. bough Linksys router added his MAC address and set speed to 128KB. ENJOY YOUTUBE NOW SUCKER!!!!

Although there might be other ways, but, since you are interested in buying a router:

- From the above the Netgear DG834 v4 certainly seems interesting given that third party/custom firmware support exists (dgteam, openwrt even tomato by some accounts ... though older versions and likely without modem support ... would have to use the ptcl one as modem in bridge mode) ... if you are comfortable around flashing the firmware, this could allow you to get what you want!

- Also from above, if the Sky/Sagem one is the 2504n model, then it has a great chipset and once unlocked it is very easy to configure as ptcl also uses routers by Sagem though different models ... see here for details:
My Tech Adventures: Sky Sagem 2504n ADSL Wireless Router: Unlock and Info ... might not support bandwidth limits without installing openwrt but it is really a very good modem!

- I would suggest noting down model numbers of routers supporting Tomato or Gargoyle firmware and see if you can find them from the shop (these routers are from 'uk lot stuff' and likely 'sorted' beforehand ... but you might just get lucky)

Its easy ! just buy a Router with a Bandwidth Control Feature and you are good to go. I have a 12mb VDSL and using a separte router (TP Link MR-3420) to limit bandwidth to my son (who streams on Youtube). You can get the TP link router for like 3k or even less !

I guess this is the same Sky Sagecom router, that you blogged about, can you be more specific about the model number and firmware etc, should i look for that can be unlocked so i can grab one from the shop, and i think model numbers were not written on the body of sky routers, i think it should be in router config page and yes it was accessible the router was fully functional.

Yes the model number won't be on it ... the one with the silver top as shown in the link with the WPS button is the only way to determine the model without accessing the router's interface ... as far as firmware is concerned, wikidevi and openwrt wiki should be useful ... for unlocked custom firmware for 2504n, the link provides all the details with all steps involved!

Most cheap Tenda routers have bandwidth control in them, get one. I have a tenda router with a bandwith control feature on it, and I got this router free when I subscribed to Wi-Tribe about 4 maybe 5 years back
