Hey peeps,

So ... I'm moving on from my current 4K LED by Samsung and I am deciding between these two. Although I want to stick with 4K considering Acer's offering of XB280HK with G Sync equipped 4K monitor makes it a rather easier choice but on the other hand there's almighty ASUS ROG Swift waving at me.
Now I'd like to see what you guys actually think about between these 2 monitors excluding the reasons of "4K is not necessary and blah blah blah." but for other solid reasons. I see ROG Swift has an advantage with 144hz an 3D panel but then again on 4K you don't need that many Hz but would be nice to have it for 3D and all.

I'm not a huge fan of 3D and I doubt I'd be playing much in 3D anyways and with the recently unveiled ASUS ROG 4K Panel that will hit the market in few months (which I will buy as well.) I feel like sticking with the Acer decision and buying that. It's not 3D and not high refresh rate, neither will be the ROG Swift 4K one that's coming but at least they are G Sync equipped which matters the most IMO.

I've done my research between these two and ROG Swift seems to have more issues with the delivered monitor and then had to deal with RMAs as well but then again there were so many sold but noticeably higher rates for backlight bleeding and all but still ... it's being such a hard decision for me because after using 4K I don't wanna go back but ROG Swift is like a gamer's dream; correction .. not like a but It Is A Gamer's Dream!

However ... Windows 8.1 being sucky on 4K with scaling and everything, I hardly get to use the monitor much for other stuff as compared to gaming, movies and all and I've never had a native 1440p monitor before and I wanna try 3D Gaming on PC along with 144hz refresh rate with G Sync enabled. I guess I could give it a shot but then it might feel weird, oh well .. I'm open to all the suggestions on what you guys have here.

Keep in mind that I will be most likely selling the whatever monitor I get in few months for the 4K ASUS ROG IPS Panel (or even other ones that will hit the market in few months time.) unless I really love the one I have such as my LG Ultrawide monitor which I have no intention of selling, it's like s3x on screen. ;)

Already sold, half payment received. Will give my monitor later this week Thursday or Saturday perhaps.
Haha, well ... not really .. it's just I have yet to find a monitor that is just perfect for me the Ultrawide one was amazing but I needed to try 4K and the games are glorious in 4K and I can't imagine to go back. Trying 1440p on 4K was a bust, I didn't enjoy it .. only tried Far Cry 4 on it and changed back to 4K right away, maybe cause it's a 2160p panel and therefore making 1440p resolution look odd and if that's the case then I should enjoy ROG Swift deeply ;)

EDIT: Also the up size for ROG Swift is because I use Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 is not available yet, not until later this year at least and which by that time I'll change to newer and the final 4K monitors hopefully. I can enjoy 1440p being all visible and usable on Windows 8.1 as compared to 4K on Windows 8.1 :p

Since You Played 4k Games And Have Been Enjoying Like Everything In 4K I Don't Think That You Will Like 1440p Display Even If it's 3D. Same Goes For a Person Who Uses A 1080p Display Won't Go Back to 720p or less because one is used to enjoy all the gloriousness of higher resolution hence the lower resolution will look bad to that person, but if you can bear that Low Resolution and want to enjoy games on 120fps or in 3D then go for it (which will be difficult cause not all games are optimized and can provide 120fps), So IMO Go For The 4K one.

Exactly what I was thinking but then I thought instead of having legacy 1080p monitor along with my multi 4K setup in few months, I could have 1440p at the least and rest all 4K.
Perhaps ... I could just switch my current ultrawide to a new ultrawide one with 1440p that time so that's good for browsing and other stuff maybe until everything adapts to 4K such as developers and coders working towards making it everything 4K compatible.
As for gaming, movies and all .. 4K is fine even if it's stretched up 720p/1080p which looks good enough but not amazeballs like a PC game would. I even tested PS4 on 4K and it looked quite nice with stretching even, not bad at all. Obviously it was in it's own resolution but on a 4K monitor that is, looked quite nice.

EDIT: Also the part keeping me away from ROG Swift is the amount of complaints I can find about this monitor and hardly none for the 4K Acer one, refer to this http://www.overclock.net/t/1526956/guide-to-the-problems-with-the-asus-rog-swift Yasir Nadeem

ASUS ROG what else :D
Well shit .. I'm almost all about ROG Swift right now (maybe?) but the amount of complaints about it on the net sucks, I don't want to deal with RMA being in Pakistan and the cost will add up by A LOT for having to send it back and all.

Exactly! Well, the ROG Swift also comes with G Sync capability and all along with 3D but that problem being is the biggest turn off for me ... just don't like it at all lol.
I will be getting ASUS ROG Swift 4K panel which will be released in few months down the road .. perhaps the late 2nd quarter or 3rd quarter of 2015.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
