You are wrong bro coz 3rd gen is also available in 8gb version but 32gb and 64 gb have lil bit fast processer......

Nah read the reviews on Amazon from the buyers, they are saying that this isn't 3rd Gen. Rip off item on Amazon as far as I know...

ipod 3g 8gb do exist. and there is no hardware difference between 2g and 3g 8gb. however 3g models with 32 gb and 64 gb have upgraded hardware.
i own ipod 3g 8gb.

let me clarify

IPod 3rd gen have 3 models
8gb, 32gb and 64gb
2nd gen 8gb and 3rd gen 8gb are the same
Apple just rebadged it as 3rd gen
where as 3rd gen 32gb and 64gb have faster processor

Yaar Wikipedia clearly shows there's no 8GB 3rd Gen iPod touch. The generations are given right there! In 3rd Generation there's only 32 and 64GB. They only upgraded the 2G model which a new firmware, which remained 2G, and introduced it with the new 3G models, but I repeat 8 GB remained 2G.

New tapered chrome back with Nike+ functionality, volume buttons, and built-in speaker added. iPhone OS 2.0 and App Store access standard. Bluetooth support added but not made active until iPhone OS 3.0, which requires an upgrade fee. Support for external microphone and remote added. The 8 GB model was re-introduced alongside the 3rd generation iPod touch in September 2009, and included the newer iPhone OS 3.1. iOS 4 was released for free for second generation iPod touch models June 21, 2010, but included a limited selection of features.

That's a good idea. You could check it for warranty on Apple's website and that will display the info too.

Apple was late to release the 2nd gen ipod touch 8g so instead it released it with the 3rd gen models. The support for 2nd gen ipod touch has now been officially removed by apple after firmware 4.3. Also the 2nd gen ipod has half the processor and ram of 3rd gen and doesnt support fetaures like multitasking. but 2nd gen ipod touch is faster than iphone 3g.
iphone 3g ahs 412 mhz and ipod touch 2g has around 500 whereas 3rd gen ipod has 600-800 mhz

Bro go to https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do and enter your serial no. It will show you which generation you have exactly. Also if your Ipod model is A1288, it is 2nd Generation. Ipod 3G has model no A1316. The important thing to check is what is the manufacturing date of your ipod. If it is after September 2009 model, It is Ipod 2G MC Model. This is the model which comes with Ipod 3G and has new boot rom.

You dont need to worry about it at all as Ipod 2g mc model has exactly same market price which you have demanded. So Cheers and Good luck with your selling.
