Anyone here in my friend list who knows dedicated server management? I am working with LEMP stack (CentOS 7, Nginx, MariaDB, PHP-FPM) and Magento. I am running into some issues and would like to ask some questions.

Hey. So this is the situation. I've gotten a dedicated server from OVH.com. I want to run two Magento stores on it. I planned to use CentOS 7, Nignx, PHP-FPM and MariaDB along with Memcache or Redis for both stores. To install the LEMP stack, I used the Centminmod script (centminmod.com). It a simple script which installs everything and makes it easier for your to update and everything.

After installing everything, I made two vhosts (server blocks in Nginx language) for each store. Then I copied the Magento files to the server for installation and according to instructions, I opened the domain in browser for the magento installation script but it gives a 404 error. From what I've gathered it has something to do with the Nginx vhost config file.

Do you have any experience of setting up Magento on Nginx?

disable the .htaccess (add characters before the dot), add an index.html and type in garbage, see if you see the garbage in the browser when you hit the domain.
If you see garbage it means you need to look at the base path inside the htaccess. Configure it to match your current environment and it should work.

Also, show us the contents of your sites conf here. (should be in /usr/local/nginx/conf/conf.d/)

I ain't that much familiar with magneto but you should post you .htaccess files here & also check error_log. One thing more, make sure that you've chowned your domains folder for nginx:nginx with "chown -R nginx:nginx /home/nginx/domains" (w/o quotes) & it'll chown that whole folder including sub directories & files in there.

aah, fudge me. You're using nginx, post the re-write rules you are using for nginx here. Disregard the htaccess instructions
