XBOX A newbie to the X360 world needs some information =)

Hey guys I have always been a PC Enthusiast but a few months I had a tragic moment and most of my PC hardware died so for the time being I want a console just to play FIFA with friends but with as little money spend as possible.

My friend has a JASPER X360 moded with him with power brick and nothing else.
Now he is unaware of the mod and it was done before FIFA 12 so i am not sure which version it is. Is it LT3.0 or not. Anyways I want to play FIFA 13 only and he is giving me the console for free. So I want to know the costs I have to pay to get it working as he said its lens needs servicing because sometimes it doesnot reads the DVD. Now this is what I have figured out:

1) 2 wired controllers: Rs.3400
2) Jtag : Rs.2000
3) LT3.0 mod 1500 (if its required)
4) Lens cleaning or change of lens Rs.1500.

This amounts to be around 8500. And these are the rates of Shops in defence lahore. So anyone knows where I can get them cheaper from defence, if yes then how much and from where? .
Because I dont want to save rupees 500 and go to gulberg and spend that 500 on petrol ..

Which brings me to my next point, the money you will save from LT, put it in Jtag and get the better chip, I recently got the matrix glitcher and its half decent, boot time ranges from minimum 15 seconds to a max of 45seconds, temeprature is actually better than when I played using an original disc. Since you are in Lahore, contact Amaga for the process he's one of the top guys here when it comes to Lahore.

Oh and genuine wired controller costs between 2500-3000 PKR, so that also changes up your budget a bit.

So if I only get it jtagged will I be able to play any game through DVDs aswell ? Because the X360 hard drive is only 20GB and my external 500GB has very important data in it which I wont risk to play games.

If you don't wanna play online then Jtag is your best option here. And to answer your question, no you wont be able to play games through your ROM since you are not getting your drive flashed, but if you can't download the games, I know its a hassle to download 8gb files on a 1mb connection, to say the least. Another option you have is to buy pirated discs and make ISO images on your computer then transfer it to the external HDD, its kind of an annoying process, but it beats getting your lens cleaned and drive maintained and all that, and yes, like saqib mentioned, if you get it jtagged you might as well throw out the drive if you want

As far as the drive goes, I have a 500gb drive aswell, keep this in mind, you can use the drive just like any other USB the xbox will not do anything to it, there is only a one time format and thats it. Mine just has a folder called "games" where I store and play the games from and the rest of the drive is as usable as before.

Just get these done. No point of LT mod update and lens cleaning/change. Just get it jtagged and you're good to go.

If you don't wanna play online then Jtag is your best option here. And to answer your question, no you wont be able to play games through your ROM since you are not getting your drive flashed, but if you can't download the games, I know its a hassle to download 8gb files on a 1mb connection, to say the least. Ofcourse you'll need a program or 2 but thats not a big deal. Just look up XeX Menu or Freestyle dash for that.

I've heard people are doing very cheap jtags now. I got mine done in 3500 from ModMaster back in the day it was freshly released and people were doing it for 5000-5500. A cousin of mine recently had his done in 2000 (or 2500 or so) so that's a pretty damn good price.

Couple that with any external hard drive/usb formatted to FAT 32 and you're good to go!

Get any chip. I have Matrix in mine and it's perfect for me. Coolrunner is a more reliable chip but costly (relatively). Both do the job. Get whichever you find (most likely you'll find matrix).

5k is way too much. Keep 3k tops in mind.

As I mentioned before It all depends on the chip, the wiring and the type of wire used. Alot of people here have experienced messed up Jtags due to poor/lazy soldering jobs and wire quality, apart from that the cheaper chips give you horrid boot times and temperature experience. Believe it or not Jtags can cost upto 7000-7500, thats if you use the Xecuter Cool Runner, those chips cost about 33USD, then add the cost of bringing them here and then the installation etc. I got mine done from Jshaq (he is one of the most trusted/respected dealer here) between 4500-5000 (sorry cant say the exact price as the retail constantly fluctuates and I don't wanna people nagging him cuz of me) and he used the matrix glitcher which the chip alone costs around 15USD, that itself is 1400 rupees, then add costs for wires, which can also range upto 200-300 per ft. So again, its upto you what you wanna get and whats your budget.

The actual process at full speed hardly takes two-three hours.
You open up the console, you solder the chip, you program it[via a computer][of course, dumping etc is included in this stage], you close the console. That's it.

I got mine done in 4 hours. If you try hard enough, earlier is possible!

Actually, it depends on how easily one gets fooled. [I'm saying nothing to anyone. It's a generalization. Don't take it personally]

Agreed, the Cool Runner is an expensive chip, but know thy prices! It costs roughly 24$ for one unit. The price decreases to around 16$ if you buy 20 or so. These are supplied with wires so you don't have any expenditure on that. Pair that with shipping and it decreases per united added (relative shipping per unit. The more chips you buy, the lesser the shipping per unit AND the lesser the price of the chip too). The Matrix chips are even cheaper.

Even if wires weren't supplied, 300 per foot? Are you serious? Bhai bijli ki taarain dalni hain? These wires carry micro pulses of low voltage (under 2 volts). You don't need copper wires of a massive diameter for that. Any decent quality silver wire (most expensive ones cost 25 per foot for the kind required)

As far as soldering is concerned, a bad solder may lead to high boot times, or no boot at all, but it will NEVER lead to the xbox being bricked. The reason is, the CHIP controls the voltage. (The RGH works this way. When it is booting, your primary circuit passes through the chip. The chip sends micro electrical pulses to the processor. This over rides the standard limitations and procedures. After you have booted, the chip's done. It doesn't matter. Not really, actually)

Jtags can cost 7000? Are you serious even for a second there? Tell me again, what will a jtag using the same chip in 4000 and same chip in 7000 give you? Just because he's ripping you off means you'll get a better service? He could be lying that he's using a genuine Coolrunner. You'd still pay 7k. Does you paying 7k entitle you to get the actual thing? Nope. Never.
If paying a higher price for the same job personally satisfies a person who has a lot of money to waste, then sure! Spend 7000 and do what person Y would have done immaculately in 4000 and be personally satisfied.

That said, there are a lot of fake Cool runner chips in the market. THEY are the ones to avoid ! ([MENTION=24535]Ali Kamran[/MENTION], keep an eye out for them. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is!)

Yo thats cool and all, obviously if you have the resources you can get it done in the time you mentioned, hell you can find youtube videos of about 26mins of someone doing the complete Jtag, but for a general consumer thats not the case. Anyone running a fairly busy business with these will ask for 2-3days, which was the same case for me, however it took ONLY ONE and one because I live far away and could have picked it up the same day. Apart from the prices I'm pretty much saying what [MENTION=2126]Jshak[/MENTION] said to me about the chips and which ones cost more and why. Overall I agree with what you say about people ripping you off, how and who you deal with, is entirely upto you, I chose to goto Junaid bhai for obvious reasons and got the matrix chip done for the price I mentioned above, the stuff I mentioned was purely keeping a general perspective and will obviously vary a/c to experience and overall know how of the topic, just like you mentioned.
