Hope this project doesn't go the way like most of the threads in this section.

I know some C++, but not enough to undertake a project of this magnitude. Never did a 2-D game.

But I'd love to be a tester for your project, whenever you guys get to that stage.

Thanks guy for all the wishes.

I am a BS in computer science student, over with my finals but have been employed at my university's IT department to develop a website for online admissions. I expect to get done with it by the mid of june so I would wana start on this game after that.

For now its a good time to brainstorm and come up with a good and complete storyline, basically, lets just dream for now.

Anyone who is uncomfortable with c++ and/or lua, but wish to learn, let me know ur email address so I could forward you books for help.

And the sdk/skeleton I have been talking about is available on the PlayFirst website with documentation.

Regards,
Hira.

Ha Ha . You deleted my post. Coward.

Hey Hira,

Stop worrying about finding a team and starting a Game Project. Just do it girl. Once you have it then show it to the world.

Doing just Motivational speaking and nothing else isn't going to get you anywhere.

Here... take a look at these Youtube video.

His name is Falco. Youtube username 'Gyrovorbis'. He is from USA.

Also search for 'LusikkaMage' on Youtube.com. She is a Female Game Programmer. I have never seen any girl like her. Her real name is Rachel also from USA. She usually uses the Allegro game library to develop her games.

CHEERS...!!!

I can help

Hi all,
I'm new to this community and I just saw this thread.
Ok, I know C++ but not Lua
I've got some experience making 2d games (using Game making programs) though not with C++ yet. I can though make a 2d game with C++ and some library. I'm currently beginning Directx programming. I do know basic Win32 programming (enough that I never have to use VB....ugh) so I can probably keep up with it.

So I'll help you guys (nd galz) make this if you'll accept me on the team.

A few questions though:
-Are you fixed on your idea? Could you possibly tweak that a bit. cuz damn, that idea just does not sit with me right. Could you at least put some fantasy in it? magic, mages, or somethin?
-You know the best bet would be to use C++ with a game library. my preference...HGE (Haaf's Game Engine...google it) although SDL would be your best bet (seeing as it integrates both OpenGL and DirectX)
-You still haven't made clear the view, the graphics etc. Going by your 2.5D statement, i'm going to assume it's isometric. But there is also an RPG view which is semi isometric. Will the movement be controlled with the mouse or the keyboard ?(that'll explain the view). How many directions of movement will there by (4,8,360?)
-Are you going to put multiplayer in it? (cuz that's probably what would bring the most money) with WinSock? (i don't know how to program it though) possibly turning it into a MMO or an MUD.

I'll be available for the project after 12th June though. (got paperz)
P.S. My Name is Ammar and I'm currently giving my AS paperz. :p
P.P.S. Never thought I'd see women in game development in Pakistan so kudos to you!

Assalamo Alaykum All,

i just wnted to add my little piece of advice... have u ppl heard of Microsoft's XNA Game Studio??? wen i got in touch with tht.. it ws in its beta stages.. sort of... but now they hav release XNA Game Studio 2.0.. you should giv tht a shot too.. it's a nice platform and many starter kits r also out there to help u guyz getting started... This platform is for hobbyist and indie game developers, they hav a community as well where they show up games tht are being developed using the same XNA GS.

As far as i am concern i really wanted to do some game development related work but i dont find enuff time usually since i m n IT professional now :(

you can c screenshots of my game tht i made 1 yr ago as my final year project:

http://cid-aa9de13ab8e6906d.spaces.live.com/photos/cns!AA9DE13AB8E6906D!120/

used truevision3d sdk with c#, 3d max 8 for 3d models and photoshop cs2 for 2d art..

Yeah and Microsoft also have given us DirectX. Besides, i hate managed code.
The screenie's for your game look cool. I'd love to have the source code if it were in C++ but alas it is in C#.
hmm truevision3d, i've never tried it, is it any better than irrlicht?

it ws one of the better engines available at tht time, tht were supporting c# as one of the coding language....

hmm.. irrlicht ws cool 2 .... i had tht.... but it ws not supporting c# at tht time... now i dont no.. tht ws one of the reasons tht i didnt pick tht up....

nope, not ogre. As of late I have started learning Directx..I think it's better to do it the hard way :p even if it takes some time to learn. It'll be worth it in the end.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
