    What kind of noise is it? If the fan is making weird noises (like continuous tik tik) then most probably its bearings are failing. And when it stops working the CPU overheats and then thermal protection kicks in and turns off the laptop. Solution: Replace the fan.

    Why do you need a backup image of Windows? If your machine is activated, then even after clean install of Windows 10 it will automatically activate itself.

    I am not sure why this happened. If Windows 10 was activated once it should automatically activate itself even after a clean install. If you have activated your Windows 10 once successfully then you can try performing a clean install. Format HDD and reinstall from scratch.

    If your router allows firmware upgrade over WiFi then there is no harm. Flashing starts once the router receives complete firmware so even if your WiFi gets disconnected, it will not damage your router. The upgrade simply won't start.

    Why N? I am not sure if Windows 7 Home Basic to Windows 10 N is a valid upgrade path. BTW N means that this version of Windows does not contain any media player and codecs etc.

    I also have a dreamspark account. I recently used my 8.1 key on another system and that too got activated. Not sure if it is a bug or MS deliberately allows this. Anyway.. Two genuine machines are better than one :D
