ok i'll post it in a thread... you must answer there :s Yea i can solve it by using any variable but i can't understand that operator method anyways ill tag you in my thread...
No i can solve it... the only problem i was having is that some times we consider "D" as an operator and sometimes we factorize it into (D-1)(D-2) so how come we are supposing D an operator and a variable which holds the roots of an equation at the same time...
And i have searched the internet this method is very uncommon... rarely find it... most of the time i find Method of Undetermined coeffecients and that is very logical so i can easily understand it.
For e.g if we have..
(D^2 + D + 1)y = 0
now "D" is an operator but if we put y = e^rx , then apply the operator it'd be something like
(r^2 + r + 1)e^rx = 0
And then we say that since exponential can't be zero that equation will be zero and find the roots... But in my book the factorized D.... put values in it sometimes and then use it as an operator... That's the problem. How come you are using D as an operator and a variable simultaneously.

Dude i need to ask a question about solving Diff eq. Do you know the method of Differential operators and how to solve Linear higher order differential equation with that?
