I used to be intimidated, in my O Lvl days, about the idea of entering a huge university, and all the admission procedures (they are a real khuwaari believe me). But its very good to finally be done with the procedures and take the next step in life. One more free month then the next phase will start. I am so excited.
Well if you decide to do Inter after O Levels, then it would be good if you do it from a good college. The syllabus of Inter is tougher than A levels. Maths is very deep and so is Chemistry. A Levels ki maths/chem/phy halwa hay Inter k saminay.... And you will get much more seats in universities too!
A* is 90 above. A is 80 above. B is 70 above.
But if they are taking B as 75, A as 85, then why not take A* as 95?!
Its very inconsistent.
This is why most O/A Level students are disappointed when they see their IBCC Equivalence. Because they think that A* will be taken as 95% whereas its taken as 90% here.
This is extremely unfair to O/A Level students. And on top of that, A Level students get much lower seats in universities compared to Inter students. Example, in NED there are only 51 seats for A Level students compared to over 1000 for Inter students.
As per IBCC standard, 86% sounds about right for that result.
They take A* as 90% instead of 95% those scumbags.
A is taken as 85%.
B is taken as 75%.
To calculate:
(90 + 90 + 90 + 90 + 85 + 85 + 85 + 75) / 8 = 86.25%
They don't follow the O/A Level standard of setting A* as 95% sadly...
Strangely A Level equivalence is calculated by taking the average of O Level and (what should have been) the A Level equivalence. I mean, if you get an A, its 85. If you get a B, its 75. But instead of giving an 80 as an average, they then take 80 and average it with the O Level equivalance. And the answer you get is the final A Level equivalence :s Its confusing but I was surprised when I saw my equivalence as 82 instead of 78... Because they took the average of my O Level equivalence and A Level equivalence and posted it on the certificate.
So I am happy about it.
IBCC Equivalence standard is very strange. They sometimes give higher equivalence and sometimes lower equivalence than what is expected.
Karachi University (UoK/KU).
Yup aim no less than NUST/GIKI/UET since you live in Punjab. If you wanna come to Karachi, add NED in that list too.
Just try and do amazingly in A Levels. O Levels results are not seen in NED atleast, and only 10% of the admission in NUST depends on O Level results (as long as they are higher than 60% you are good for NED and NUST). But if you are doing A Levels, believe me you must give all you can. And to get into a good A Levels institute, you must get a good O Level result. Otherwise the top universities in which you can apply and get good merit drop like flies in Pakistan....
Its a good thing I improved my A Lvl result from BBB to ABB. Else I was a goner.
SSUET is lower down the ranks. Its good for Electronics engineering I heard and my plan was to either do electronics from here, or chemical from UoK if I didn't get Electrical in NED.
GIKI is in KPK. It has the best engineering labs in Pakistan I heard. Even better than NUST.
As far as I know, NUST is best, then comes GIKI (boring as hell place), then UET, then Mehran (friends told me that studies there are predominantly in Sindhi :s and I don't know Sindhi), then NED. This is for Engineering. If you add business/computers, then Comsats, LUMS also come into the equation and I would place LUMS at first then, and Comsats just above NED. When medical comes into equation, then Aga Khan would be above NED.
Nadirshaw Eduljee Dinshaw University of Engineering and Technology... Its one of the best universities in Pakistan for engineering behind NUST, GIKI, Mehran, UET.
NUST is too difficult to get into for an A Level student -__-... Paper is just a month after the end of A Lvl exams, its based on Inter syllabus (whose Maths and Chemistry are tougher than A Lvl syllabus), there are 200 questions in it and just 180 minutes to answer (no practice because in A Lvl there are more minutes than questions), calculator is not allowed, and the questions are waaaaaay more difficult than they were in the NED Entry test (in which calculator WAS allowed and time was more than the questions in minutes). If I could gotten admission into NUST, I would have. But sadly it was too difficult. I salute the A Level students who got into decent technologies in NUST. They must be khaptees!

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
