MULTI [Gamespot] Cheating In PS5 And Xbox Series X Games Might Get Worse, Thanks To This Machine-Learning Tool

The tool seems to use a visual feed provided by a capture card (ones like Elgato and AverMedia make) to a PC, which is then analyzed using machine-learning to determine targets. All the player needs to do is aim in the general direction of a foe online, with the tool then figuring out precise aiming and even taking the required shots for the kill. The tool can be configured in a bunch of way, with the video demonstrating how a cheater can increase or decrease the field of view the tool uses to grab targets.

ACPD says it isn't impossible, but that developers will equally struggle to find a widespread solution to this problem.

First CronusMax now this. Yikes.

CronusMax doesn't yet work on PS5 (and probably Series X|S). And it's barely cheating to begin with, since it's just a bunch of controller mods blown out of proportion by PC evangelists desperate to prove there's cheating on consoles 🤣

Also, such devices allow people with disabilities to use custom controllers on consoles, so I am not at all against them.

Not sure how that defensive rambling explains why capture cards are about to be blocked :ROFLMAO:

Because if this AI-based image detection technique is actually beneficial to cheaters on consoles and gains popularity, console makers will take measures to prevent it, including counter detection using AI-based solutions of their own 🤷‍♂️

Blocking capture cards means blocking millions of people from using capture cards legitimately.

Developing "AI-based solutions of their own" means your fav never ending back and fourth cycle to stop cheaters 🤷‍♂️ :ROFLMAO:

Both PS and Xbox have had built-in capture and streaming options since last gen, so this would only really affect a small subset of the user base.

While it's true that an AI-based countermeasure would result in a cat and mouse game between game makers and cheaters, tackling such measures would be more challenging for cheaters due to consoles being closed systems 🤷‍♂️

lol, streamers prefer dedicated capture cards even on PC, let alone consoles. Its actually a very small subset, if at all, that choose the console's native capability for their everyday streaming needs. I doubt either manufacturer is about to block millions of people from doing that. It goes against their own marketing interests as well.

This is being done externally so the closed nature doesn't impact it. That's what makes this a difficult to detect hack. 🤷‍♂️

Streamers are a small subset of the user base to begin with, and an even smaller subset uses capture cards on consoles. It's only the professional ones that use them on consoles.

The cheat isn't fully external. It sends input to the controller. Also, the player still has to aim in the direction of the enemy for it to work. The closed nature of consoles will most certainly help 🤜

The in-development cheat, brought to light by the Anti-Cheat Police Department Twitter account this week, claims to use machine learning to analyse gameplay footage in real-time before sending inputs to your controller.
This is not an aim bot or wallhack in the traditional sense. This new cheat can only react to what is shown on-screen, and the user must aim in the general direction of the enemy in order to benefit.
There's also the question of how much latency this would add to input. Is it even worth the hassle of plugging the console to a capture card and PC, not to mention the cost involved? 🤷‍♂️

As it stands, it's largely inaccessible for a console audience that's unlikely to have a PC and capture card to hand (not to mention any input delay this would cause).
What's funny, though, is that even with this AI driven technique, the traditional aimbot on PC is still much, much superior 🤣

In Warzone, for example, typical aim bots see the cheater "snap" to targets hundreds of meters away, even those hidden behind cover or in the gas and therefore invisible to the naked eye.

So now this is officially acknowledged by CerebralTiger as well as developers. Excellent. 👌

Imagine continuing to pay for online now 🤣

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.

did you try setting up Google Payments? For UBL you may have to get it enabled for internet transactions, Naya should work without it!

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!
