So found a way to go around it tax was generated 12K but i tried my uncles passport number who recently came back from china and it was approved.

majority of pakistanis buy mobiles,tabs and laptops from abroad and this shitty system is actually forcing us to not buy well first make pakistani market competent than implement this system yahan paisay day kar bhe genuine cheez nahe milte.

If you used a travel agent or had any interaction with customs officers, they could have sold your passport details so that someone could get a free device.

Email [email protected] and send them the ID number that you got in SMS and tell them someone used your passport without your permission to register a phone.

They'll block that device and then you can avail 1 phone free instead.

As per the PTA's website, international travelers have 60 days of time to get their devices registered. After which, pretty sure it will stop functioning.

Hi there, thanks for sharing your experience but I've got some doubts and I would like your input.

1) I'm currently traveling abroad with my wife and child ( still a toddler ), so we are three people in total. So can I purchase 3 cellphones and bring them back to Pakistan and then get them registered online under our individual accounts/details free of charge?

2) What if I bring a cellphone which has dual sim ( so it will have 2 IMEI ).

3) What if I bring a tab or laptop which has a sim functionality but I don't plan to use that function?

1) 2 people can use their passports for sure. Not sure about the child.
Although, effective from 1st July, one free device per passport is no longer allowed.

2) It can be registered. The DIRBS portal has an option for single, dual, triple and quad SIM devices.

3) You can choose to not register it. Everything on the tablet will work except cellular functions.

Yes u can register on toddlers passport. I registered S10+ myself.

After almost a month and repeated reminders, I got clearance mail from PTA today, however they refused to provide any info that from which city my Passport credentials were used.

Can anyone guide my what this means. I get this message when verifying:
Your movie device is valid and not PTA approved/registered. Please register your device at (dribs url) and pay FBR tax/duties within 60 days or it's first use on Pakistani mobile network.

My mobile phone (dual SIM) both IMEI have same msg but working fine. Do I need to register or worry about anything? As I understand those who traveled from abroad can register one device for free, what about others, do they need to pay tax? How much? It's s8+

What's procedure for dual SIM phone registration

1. probably not. others will register smuggled phones using your details. you won't be able to register your phones.

As with every other system in Pakistan, this has been a bad attempt by the Government and this just proves how far behind we are in technological sector.

I came to Pakistan for just 10 days a few days ago and the bugging by PTA started after that, asking me to register my device. However, i left PK after those 10 days, leaving my newly bought SIM running under Roaming. Point to note here that a roaming sim means it's not really working on a Pakistan network anymore (clarified by the teleco themselves via email). So i was surprised when the countdown of 60 days did not stop. Pretty sure my current device is blocked now (as I came back in Feb 2019). So this just adds to my hassle when i will come again in August for my annual leave.

Has anyone here gone through similar procedure to register the phone as a traveller by going to those PTA small counters they made (as i hear)?? Or any other option?

By the way, i am unable to open "https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/" the DIRBS link from overseas, and upon checking from "isup.me", it shows the status as "Down" i.e. not working.
Just me or anyone else face this as well?

Not an issue, isup.me is based abroad so it comes up as down for them.

DIRBS is only accessible from within Pakistan. It's blocked for any non local IPs.

What would you (or any current resident available at PG) recommend i should do in my case, assuming i don't want to change my phone? Can't I apply online about my case to PTA, BEFORE i come to Pakistan? Or do i HAVE to visit to these shitty people personally, just so i can change my status as a Traveller (if it's even possible).

PTA is apparently going to stop the '1 free phone per year' rule for travellers after tomorrow (1st July). So the only option is to pay duty to register your phone, or buy a cheap feature phone here to use your SIM card in.

Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like.
