No, this is the max speed you can get on ADSL2.

You can get up to 100 Mbps on VDSL.

Lastly, correct, you're on 20 Mbps but they've set it to 14 max because that's all the line is capable of.
hmm...I will go to the exchange tomorrow to get the vDSL modem, hopefully the problem will be solved then.

You can't just swap modems and be on your way.

VDSL requires an entirely different line, package, and possibly different phone number as well. You have to order it, or ask if you can convert your existing line to VDSL, it's not as easy as just picking up a new modem.

oh..i then misunderstood the concept..after the upgradation in my area, i went to the exchange and they said they will come to my house with the new modem and upgrade my pkg to a higher one...as they did not come for more then 3-4 days i approached 1218 and told them to convert it...which eventually happened...so i thought that the line man was to come to only change the adsl modem to vdsl and everything will be shining ...but now that you have explained the scenario...it doesnt seem that pleasant...and i doubt my exchange is willing to give 20mbps...i think they will eventually tell me that the line will support only 10 mbps max or some other excuse like your home is more than 1-2kms away from exchange so 20mbps is not possible etc...well lets see what they say ...thnks though for the info..

VDSL requires less distance from your house and the DP or your house and the MSAG (Fiber cabinet). If you're less than 500 meters, you should be able to get 20 Mbps with no problems.

Get your line converted to VDSL first, they'll provide a VDSL modem with it, and your line profile should be set to 20 Mbps accordingly.

Today they converted to VDSL and also gave the VDSL modem, however they disappointed me by downgrading my connection to 6 mbps rather than making it work for 20 mbps. I thought that this whole vDSL scenario would do 20 mbps if not then would atleast do 10 mbps for me which was also acceptable but the concerned ptcl person said sorry sir the system is quite far from your house and SNR is very low for such high speeds which will cause problems for you e.g:disconnections etc. I don't know what to do now, I don't have any other network options so they (ptcl) definitely know they have the leverage here...I believe I have to just get along with the 6 mbps then...

1. Doesn't look like you're on VDSL (it says ADSL_2plus).
2. Your attainable line rate says you can get around 12Mbps, and the port sync speed is 10Mbps for downstream (and 1.3Mbps approx. for upstream).

I don't think you've been converted to VDSL at all.
oh...but they installed the new vDSL modem, and ya I was skeptical about the mode being ADSL_2plus too, seems like they just gave me the new modem but everything is old as it was...and they told me that your connection is vDSL now...however they just camouflaged my connection.

Lol they're just messing with you, swapping the modem wasn't going to do anything.

Tell them the connection isn't on VDSL yet by personally visiting the exchange.

This started happening just one or two days ago. My problem began ever since i started playing on a laptop using wifi, like maybe 2 years ago or something. @frac
here's the thing... problem you are having i had same because my line's weren't Fiber they were non-fiber... so after i'm on fiber i'm getting stable pings 95-100.
and the issue i raised above happened like 2 days ago and its fixed now.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
