So lets say I use VPN to change my region to India, on my existing Pakistani Steam account. Is it possible? How do I proceed with buying?

Also, how can we know if the game is region locked for India, because if we bought a region-locked game, we can never play it in our region. Am I right?

I just don't want to risk my Steam account so I need to be sure.

Don't do this then, there is a risk of ban and losing your steam library.

instead of changing the region on your main account consider making a new account using a vpn of indian or russian region (which is very cheap) after you have created the account you can turn the vpn off and your new account will still show games in whatever region it was created in simply buy games and enjoy.

You are more likely to get banned from constantly changing regions on one account than the way i mentioned it does go against steam ToS so its always a risk but the games are so cheap its worth a try if your want to.

Im happy with South Asia Dollar prices so it doesn't matter to me honestly.

actually by changing even one time if its a new account the steam will ban it.. with 50$ locked in it.

but this case is only with new accounts

old accounts dont get ban easily.

Games are playable anywhere in the world once they are added to your library, no matter how you add them, via changing the region using VPN or actually buying it while you are present in another country. You can play those games even after you leave that country or location.
But changing region using VPN is a risk and yet many people still do it.
Currently all games are region locked, for example you cant receive gift from an Indian or Russian buyer without changing the region of your account to India or Russia. If your region is set to lets say India and you have money in your steam wallet, you can buy a game from steam store and add it to your library without using any kind of VPN.

just for curiosity...if not done super frequently, how does/can steam detect that a person has switched a vpn ON or is just visiting some region. Like if you switch to Pakistani region once every month buy that month's games and then switch back, how will they know

I have no idea how exactly steam catches this. I dont change my store region that much, only have done it once or may be twice in a year, and didnt even do it myself. Found a steam trader on facebook group page to do it for me.
And its better if you dont change it too much, avoid the risk of getting a ban (sm1)

There are several ways to detect VPN. Either through frequency of traffic from IPs, your activity pattern, where the DNS is being resolved or simply checking if the IP is blacklisted as VPN addresses.

switching region requires card purchase if ur randomly purchasing stuff in other region using ur CC or debit card ... other than trying to cheat steam they might they they are stolen cards..

i hve switched region like 4times in 6months from RU to INR to PKR to US in my old account which had 500+ account nothing has happend to it.

but i had one other account turned it to INR and than added wallet to it and it got banned but that account had only 15junk games and thus the ban got my 30$ stuck in it aswell bcoz they wanted proof of tht indian purchase which ofcorse if u hve friends in india who are willing to share that type of info wid u u can do but at most it wll b a fail.

It's simple, different regions have different prices for same game, if game has price of $10 and u buy it for $8 in some other region and change back they would know u changed region

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
