Need to watch HD TV

I'm using a 40 inch LED to watch the TV, play games etc. The problem I've been facing is the crap quality of the cable that is being provided in my area. What should I do to upgrade it and how much will it cost? Should I go for PTCL Smart tv? Or DishTV Hd and will they be really expensive? I have no idea if my unstable 3mb internet connection would be able to maintain the connection. Whats the best option to go for?

well dish tv cost in Isb is 9000 installation fee and 1500 per month for full hd package and quality of hd channels is awesome.

You should wait a little. PEMRA is going digital and all operators in Karachi will soon be offering HD BOX's to their customers.

Getting Smart TV by PTCL would be a bad idea because those idiots cant really run it properly. Also if you have a bad line, nothing will work at your end. ( Phone, DSL & TV)

DishTV/Airtel HD/ VideoCon have awesome results but you'll be paying for crappy channels. Plus the indian sensor board sensors every god damn scene/abusive language/etc from the transmission so its frustrating. Movies like the Ugly truth will miss almost 20 minutes due to sensor thingi.

They have around 500 channels out of which only 20 channels are worth watching.

If you want to watch HD quality movies and if you have atleast a 4mb internet connection, I suggest you get NETFLIX. Awesome service, HD quality movies and runs perfectly on 4mb connections.

Thank you so much for the opinions. I really wanna stay away from the Indian TV crap (No offence). The current cable is just bad quality + normal channels in Hindi(National Geographic etc). Netflix is perfect but I need a good internet connection apart from the normal one so the computer can be used for online gaming while streaming. And my family might need some Pakistani channels(ARY, Hum). So I need those too.

What about worldcall? They have a digital TV service too which costs around 5k for subscription and is cheaper. Any reviews on that? Will there normal cable be better than other local cables? There's actually a mafia here playing with there power and forcing everyone to use their crappy tv service. They don't let other local providers get to you. Theres only one TV cable and ISP. You go with them or you go for something like PTCL, Witribe.. And yeah HD tv seems a bit too expensive for the stuff it offers. I was checking one and all the HD channels are crap. I don't want to pay for those. Just ten sports was worth it out of the entire list of hd.

For local TV channels like ARY and HUM TV you need to visit regal and ask there. There is a system with installation costs around Rs.7000.. And that to one time charges. You will need a 2 feet dish and a digital TV box. But you need to visit the shops there and ask for local tv channels.

Location is Bank Alfalah branch at main road on regal. Next street after BAF and 2nd gali on your right.
