Back in the day, my dad used Sheaffer and my mom used Parker.

Both passed it on to me, and both are spectacular. Although Sheaffer was my favorite in terms of a fountain pen.

Edit: I believe it was either the 1970's Sheaffer 440 or 330, not sure.

My mother had one of those too, they were epic. :D Any ideas about where I can get good ones nowadays?

My total possessions weigh 25KG, I don't buy anything unless absolutely needed the whole year, thats why once a year I splurge on something, this year it's a fountain pen because I like 'em :D (Plus I write alot)

Its not about status symbols, I'm in university, I have none.

Damn man :D I never misplace my stuff so works for me I suppose (sm1)

Getting back on topic, does anyone have any idea which shops to check in Karachi, which pens to go for or what to look for?

So does anyone here have experience with fountain pens, if so which ones would you recommend or alternatively which shops?
Depends on what the intended use is. If it is for everyday use then Pilot Metropolitan and Lamy Safari are good options and both are in 2-3k range. However, if you are looking to spend the whole 10k and are looking for something a little more prestigious then you can go for Waterman, Sheaffer or Parker (Waterman is a little more unique but I personally love the design of parker pens). As for local availability I would suggest ordering from amazon through a pg seller. Given how much the local shops over charge and how limited the selection is, it would be more cost effective if you order them from abroad.

I agree, but I'm not looking for an SP10 or else I'd have asked. Thanks though.

Thanks I'll check those two out. I've used Parker and Sheaffer in the past and I personally love Sheaffer, will check it out.

As for stores, ordering online is not an option, local stores?

Any person who writes a lot should be castrated for spelling it alot. :ninja:
I suppose :p

Parker silver/gold is almost best in under 10k but be careful while buying expensive pen the parker ink cartage /riffle is really different from master copy of parker and it little bit smother that ordanary pen.

In forum there used to be a huge pen shop, it had genuine stuff and lots of brands. Personally I own a parker sonnet, a parker 15 (jotter), another mid tier parker and a pilot i bought from dubai few months back. Lamy safari is a good option if you can find it locally, but ultimately i would invest in a sailor or a pelikan when I have both time to write and money to spend. Search for fountainpennetwork on google to really get into this hobby for good:)

I think it falls in the upper mid end of the Parker spectrum and well worth it, did not buy from here so don't know the pricing, neither remember mine. I believe it was in the 40-50 pounds territory. Just make sure you feed it with decent ink, wash it and clean it often and use it even more often, ink has a way of clotting and drying out in the barrel/feed. Never ever let anyone use your fountain pen, NEVER. Choose your nibs wisely, how broad you like your pen to write can actually make you love or hate your pen, the thicker it is the better chance you have to add variation to your writing and maybe in the future get your nib modified by a master craftsman into a rounded italic. If I were you I would order online, choose a few starter pens from most of the good brands and be able to own 2-3 in the given budget. Give the pens only good paper to write on too, proper stuff bought from billboard or moleskine journals or the kind, paper makes a big difference.

Also you will find yourself bored from writing, to keep the investment in use always use bold and different ink colors even if they are fancy, blue and black will not carry you long.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into that. :D Good idea about the choice of paper, I'll research into that too.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
