Desktop Vs Laptop - Price Difference

Hi guys,

I am thinking to make a comeback towards desktop gaming as I think my laptop won't be able to run latest games like Witcher 3, Metro and may be upcoming Fifa 16 as well. So I might soon sell my laptop and build a PC.

I will be using a Samsung 19" Wide LED, so what should I build? I would like to stick with the LED for years unless some mishap happens with it.

Current Laptop Specs

Core i5 3210M
Ati Radeon 7670M
4 GB Ram

----------------------

It is still serving very well and I am playing WWE 2K15, Fifa 15 and some other decent games on it.

About how much I will get from selling my laptop? It is an Inspiron N5520 and what will a new PC cost me?

I know that mate. I want to know what will I get for my lappy and how much I will need to spend to build a PC capable of running everything on a 19 inch LED.

Cant say about your Laptop, though for playing games on max at 1080p you need atleast a corei5 4th Gen. 8 Gigs of Ram (Doesnt have to gamming) A decent gpu like 960/970gtx or 280x. A decent psu. All in all if you buy everything brand new, It'll cost you around 70-78k and if you add in HDD and SSD around 10-14K more.

Nope, its 1366 x 768. Still I recommend the same gpus considering future up-gradation of your LED. Also the upcoming games.

If you want to reduce the cost, you can get a 270x.

For the resolution your monitor supports , I advice you buy the 750ti of 960.

8gb ram shall be fine with a core i5 on low end mobo.

750Ti will only run todays games on Medium-High. In 6-8 months time it'll be everse worse.

In 6-8 months i wont be able to play games at 1366* on 750ti?

It goes like this:

If what you want is to "play games" and graphics don't matter too much to you, by all Means 750Ti will serve you well. It will play game for years but at low settings further down the road. So it's about your liking really, if you like great graphics and want to play games at Ultra-High for sometime to come I recommend a high Gpu like the one's I meantioned.

That was short but it summarized the PC VS Laptop aspect.
Your Lappy IMO will go for about 30K but you can always try your luck in the market place.

As far as PC capable for running everything on a 19 inch is concerned. I will tell you about the PC in the best price to cater those needs.

-Core i5 2nd/3rd Gen (~9-10K) personal opinion go for whatever i5 you get cheaper amongst 2nd/3rd gen
-H61 Mobo (New) (~5.5K)
-HDD 500GB ~3K (get New Seagate ST2000DM001 if budget allows)
-GPU (Jitna Gur dalo utna Metha) (9K 7770) (15K 7870) (17K R9 270) (24k R9 280x) (28K R9 290) (For Used) (Buy new in warranty if budget allows)
-RAM (4GB starters 3.2K. 8GB Better 6.2K)
-Case (Normal - Must be properly ventilated) ~(1.5K)
-PSU (Quality 500W, i would recommend used branded Antec/Seasonic) (~3K-4K)
-Optical (In 2015 if you have brains, you won't need no optical)

~35K (Min)
*With 7770 GPU
Which i think is great as per your budget.

Not sure what you'll get for the laptop, but in order to run the latest games on excellent settings, here's what you need:

An i5 processor, 2nd gen or higher.
8 GB RAM
A good GPU like the 290 or GTX970 or higher.

If you want to make the cheapest possible rig in used, you can buy an i5 2400 for 10K, 8 GB RAM for 6K, a mobo for 3-4K, an HDD for 5K, a PSU and casing for 5K, and a 290 GPU for 25K or so. Total = 55K

You WILL be able to run EVERYTHING even with a 7770 on a 19 inch LED with 1440 resolution
I have no concern with 60FPS 1080P Ultra because these clearly aren't your requirements.

Isn't 290 a high end GPU? I mean will it be really needed to play games at my resolution? Also I heard some of you guys talking about 3GB VRam being utilized by high end games should I also do my purchase keeping that in mind?

it's all about the requirement.
Some people want nothing but the best possible graphics, res and FPS so they tend to buy high end like 290 while others are happy just to 'play' the game regardless of graphics, res and FPS.
as far as 1440x900 res is concern 7770 will be sufficient for you and will enable you to Play all (at decent settings).

It's all about your preference. I will always recommend going for the cheapest option (not cheap in quality) because this saves your money

Got it. By the way which card is it, that will run with best possible graphics according to my requirement? Is 7770 one of them or something better I should go for?

It's not about the budget, but its about what to buy that fits one's need and pocket. I can spend 25k on a GPU but again it will be waste of money, so I wont.
