No G2 doesn't have Service Mode .. and 4636 method works with G2 but its temporary only.. it will reset to WCDMA on restart.. Its actually a good thing to check if thats a D802 :)
[MENTION=25535]frazgta[/MENTION].. just type *#*4636*#*# on G2 and select LTE and check if 4G works if not that thats a refurb phone and it surely will not work with 4G in Pakistan :)

Reset upon restart isn't an issue as he just needs to check.
Once LTE is connected and verified that its working, he can go ahead and purchase the phone.

There are a lot of refurbished G2s in market which don't have LTE working. I planned on checking LTE before buying the phone but I obviously can't root the phone before buying it.

G2 D802 Even it is factory Refurbished. 4G LTE will work on it. it shouldn't be a problem. Check my guide on how to check model number.

Correction. All models of G2 has Service mode. It can be accessed by using appropriate commands.

no, it's unlimited. it doesn't have any FUP.

So I went to buy a D802 32GB. I checked around 8 devices, all of them 32 GB. NONE of them were able to connect via LTE (I'm using Zong). All of them were able to switch to 3G though. I decided to try a 16 GB one which was going for 29k (was almost new). It was able to switch to LTE almost instantly.

The shopkeepers were insistent that ONLY the 16GB version can connect via LTE because the 32GB version doesn't support the 1800MHz band (lol).

Secondly, I have to manually enter service mode on D802 to get to LTE settings. Will installing a custom AOSP based ROM like CyanogenMod or Blisspop fix this issue?

Its not like that both versions support 4G .. its just 32GB variant is mostly refurbished ... so go for 16GB if u got 4G working .. enjoy

Hey bro if you can manually open service menu, i recommend downloading an app NETWORK from playstore. Please check, it may be an easier way to switch to 4G

Haha had a chat with a zong engineer asked y is it slow in hyderabad as compared to other cities he said we are still in the learning phase of optimization goto khi it rocks there i was like wth.

    I have a PS5 but I am not satisfied with the experience. I am currently saving for a 4080 64 GB rig soon. Bit will wait for Pro if performance improves. This gen has been so bad I don't plan on buying consoles anymore for AAA gaming.

    Consoles were my main platform ever since Atari 2500. But now I think it's not worth it as PC especially with DLSS deliver far smoother performance. AW2 on console didn't even had ray tracing and ran below 30fps. Similar issues plagues DD2 on consoled.
